...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO
2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level
expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal
  waterways.

* WHERE...In New Jersey, Cape May and Atlantic Coastal Cape May.
In Delaware, Kent, Inland Sussex and Delaware Beaches.

* WHEN...From 8 AM this morning to 2 PM EDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At this level, flooding begins on the most
vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along
inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are
  possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another round of minor flooding is possible
  with Sunday morning's high tide.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to
costly repairs.

Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at
water.weather.gov/ahps for additional water level and flood
impact information for your local tide gauge.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
330 AM EDT Sat Nov 6 2021

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will remain across the Mid-Atlantic through early next
week. Low pressure developing off the Carolina coast will slowly
move to the northeast through Monday, remaining away from the area.
A weak cold front will cross the region on Wednesday, lifting
northward as a warm front on Thursday. A stronger cold front will
approach the region later in the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Broad high pressure expands the Northeast and is centered along the
spine of the Appalachians. The center of the high passes to the east
by this evening, and then another area of high pressure establishes
itself along the spine of the Appalachians tonight. Meanwhile,
strong low pressure centered just of the eastern Florida shore later
today and tonight. In terms of sensible weather, some light rain may
lift into southern Delaware during the late night hours, but not
expecting much more than minimal QPF.

Light north winds will be in place across the region today, then
winds veer to the east tonight. Along the southern New Jersey and
Delaware coasts, winds increase to 10-15 mph with gusts to 20 mph.

Sunny skies across the majority of the region today will give way to
increasing cirrus clouds late tonight from south to north.

Cold this morning with temperatures in the 20s and low 30s will warm
up to the low to mid 50s, which are still several degrees below
normal. A Freeze Warning remains in effect for Sussex county,
Delaware. Lows tonight will range from the mid and upper 20s north
and west of the Fall Line and in the low to mid 30s along the I-95
corridor and in the upper 30s to low 40s across Delmarva and along
the New Jersey coast.

&&

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
High pressure across the Mid-Atlantic will become elongated as it
gets squeezed between a coastal low pressure system develops along
the southeast US coast and low pressure over eastern Canada. This
will enhance the winds across the region as the gradient tightens
with the most robust winds expected to be closer to the coast,
especially across southern New Jersey and coastal Delaware.

The low over Canada will remain far enough away from the area so we
are not expecting ant other impacts from it. However, the coastal
low will start to move to the northeast but looks to be a very slow
mover. The outer bands of moisture from this low may start to push
into Delmarva, with the best chances for any rain being mostly in
southern Delaware. With the high remaining near our area and
relatively strong subsidence in place, we may hard pressed to see
anything reach the ground but will continue to mention some very low
POPs for Sunday.

The low is very slow to pull away from the region, but it remains
well offshore and its influence across our area should wane some as
we head into Monday.

Monday is expected to be a rather quiet day across the Mid-Atlantic
as the high reestablishes itself, with strong ridging pushing
northward from the southwest. Temperatures will be warm on Monday
and should rise into the 60s through much of the region.

&&

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Tuesday should be a quiet day across the region as high pressure
remains in control, though it should start to weaken through the
day as a shortwave trough pushes down across the Great Lakes.

A weak cold front will drop down through the region on Wednesday.
The front looks to have very little moisture with it so not
anticipating much in the way of precipitation as it crosses the
region. Behind the boundary, temperatures will cool slightly but
should remain quite comfortable.

The front remains just to the south of the area Wednesday night and
then starts to lift northward as a warm front on Thursday. As the
front moves northward, it looks like it gains some moisture and we
will see some showers as it pushes through the region. As the front
lifts north, WAA will increase behind it and temperatures will start
to warm again.

A low pressure system across the upper Midwest will push towards the
area with a deep upper level trough starting to dig down towards the
Gulf of Mexico. This system will bring a cold front to our area on
Friday. With the lows pretty stacked from the surface up through the
mid and upper levels, there is a strong chance that this system is
slower moving than the models currently suggest. Additionally, the
latest runs of some of the models are starting to show the potential
for a coastal low to develop off the Carolinas and move up into the
Mid-Atlantic later in the week. Should this low develop, it would
certainly bring different impacts than the slow moving low to the
west so we will need to monitor further runs to see if the trends
hold. Once the upper trough starts to open a bit and move across our
area, we should see temperatures start to drop back down to more
seasonable values.

&&

.AVIATION /08Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Early this morning (through 12Z)...VFR/SKC. Light N winds. High
confidence.

Today (12Z through 00Z)...VFR. Light N winds early, becoming E 5-10
kt this afternoon. High confidence.

Tonight...VFR. Light N winds, except NE around 10 kt at KACY. High
confidence.

Outlook...

Sunday...VFR expected. North to northeast winds 5 to 10 knots at all
terminals, except KACY and KMIV where winds will be 10 to 15 knots.
Gusts up to 25 knots possible at KACY. Winds should drop off Sunday
night. Moderate confidence.

Monday...VFR expected. North-northwest winds 5 to 10 knots becoming
light and variable at night.

Tuesday...VFR expected. Light west to southwest winds. Moderate
confidence.

Wednesday...VFR expected. Northwest winds 5 to 10 knots, becoming
northeast late. Moderate confidence.

&&

.MARINE...
Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for ANZ455 for seas around 5
feet and wind gusts to 25 kt this morning. Going into this
afternoon, seas will build to 5-6 feet north towards the extreme
southeast NJ coast. SCA remains in effect form this afternoon
through tonight for southeast NJ and DE coastal ocean waters. Wind
gusts to 25 kt will redevelop over the DE coastal ocean waters late
tonight.

Outlook...

Sunday through Sunday night...SCA conditions expected on the ocean
waters. Seas will build from south to north with winds increasing as
well. With the potential for gale force gusts, have raised a Gale
Watch for Sunday/Sunday night just for the coastal waters off of
Delaware. While a few gale gusts are possible as you move north, the
coastal storm looks to be far enough off shore to keep the tightest
gradient just to the south and east of the remaining ocean waters.

Also added a SCA for the lower Delaware Bay where gusts of 25 knots
are expected on Sunday. Confidence is lower that winds will continue
to gust into Sunday night so did not extend it that far out at this
time.

Monday through Tuesday... SCA conditions, due to seas, are expected
to continue into Tuesday before subsiding later Tuesday.

Wednesday...Sub-SCA conditions are expected on the area waters.

&&

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
With the continued northeast flow and high astronomical tides,
some additional minor tidal flooding is anticipated Saturday and
Sunday with the morning high tides. Coastal Flood Advisories may
be needed in future updates, especially for Cape May,
Cumberland, Sussex, and Kent Counties.

&&

.PHI WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
PA...None.
NJ...None.
DE...Frost Advisory until 9 AM EDT this morning for DEZ003.
MD...None.
MARINE...Small Craft Advisory from 6 AM Sunday to 6 AM EST Monday for
     ANZ450>452.
Small Craft Advisory from 2 PM EDT this afternoon to 6 AM EST
     Monday for ANZ453-454.
Gale Watch from Sunday morning through late Sunday night for
     ANZ455.
