.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will remain across the Middle Atlantic region through
the weekend. A low pressure system will move east of our area Sunday
then out to sea Monday. More high pressure will return for the start
of next week.
&&
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM FRIDAY MORNING/...
Only some minor edits to the temperatures and weather grids for
the 7pm update. Clouds should continue to filter east of the
region through the early overnight with another cold and frosty
night in store.
A seasonably chilly and quiet forecast continues through the end of
the workweek. A shortwave trough to our west will shift eastwards
out of the Great Lakes, helping to push a disorganized remnant area
of higher vorticity further offshore. A few weak showers will likely
linger offshore over the marine waters through the early overnight,
but a dry and partly cloudy forecast continues over land.
Another cold night ahead with more widespread frost and a killing
freeze potentially across Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, and
the rest of the Delmarva Counties that didn't see as much frost the
past couple of nights. With calm winds and the main trough axis
moving overhead bringing the lowest 500 mb heights of the period
tonight, expect temperatures to drop a little below much of the
guidance once again. How quickly the high clouds move offshore is
the one factor to watch with this, with the possibility that they
linger longer right along the coast. We still should have plenty of
time for radiational cooling most everywhere tonight, but it might
not be enough to completely end the growing season in all the
remaining counties. Lows are forecast to drop into the upper 20s
west of I-95 and around 30-32 over the Coastal Plain.
Another quiet day brought to you by high pressure as it moves
eastward out of the Ohio Valley tomorrow with weak northwest winds.
Brilliant sunshine with few to no clouds tomorrow. Highs virtually a
copy and paste from today in the low 50s for most and mid to upper
40s across the Poconos and northwestern New Jersey.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/...
The weekend looks to be good Chamber of Commerce weather as high
pressure, sunshine and seasonable to slightly below temperatures
prevail. Winds look to be light throughout the period for most. of
the area. Near the end of the period, extreme southern portions of
the forecast area may be a bit breezy due to a low well off the
coast.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
There is not much weather action in the long term part of the
forecast. A low pressure system offshore Sunday night will continue
to move out to sea early next week. More cool dry air arrives over
the area behind it.
Through the week, an upper ridge and surface high pressure area
expand across the Middle Atlantic. Towards the end of the week, a
progressive trough pushes in from the Great Lakes. Overall, mostly
sunny days and clear nights expected. After our spell of below
normal temps this week, readings will be closer to normal next Mon.
and then go above normal for the subsequent days. The next chance
for showers may be as late as next Fri, depending on how things
unfold.

KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

varying between northerly and northeasterly generally 5 knots
or less. High confidence.
Friday...VFR conditions expected. Winds 5 to 10 kt varying
between northerly and northeasterly.
Outlook...

Saturday through Saturday night...VFR. LGT/VRB winds. High

.MARINE...
Sub-advisory conditions are expected through Friday over the waters
with northerly winds from 10 to 15 knots and a few gusts up to 20
knots, especially across the southern Atlantic zones off Cape May
and Sussex Counties. Seas from 2 to 4 feet, though a few waves may
approach 5 feet over the southern Atlantic zones Friday
afternoon.
Outlook...
Friday night...Overall, sub-SCA conditions.
Saturday through Saturday night...Low pressure develops off the
Southeast coast and lifts towards the Mid-Atlantic. Seas may
build to around 5 feet Saturday night.
The long range forecast for the ocean shows a continuation of fair
weather as a coastal system from the weekend remains offshore Sunday
night and moves away Monday. Low-end SCA gusts are possible Sun
night and seas will probably remain into the SCA range Monday and
perhaps into Tuesday morning. &&
.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
The morning high tides associated with the current new moon
phase are particularly high. It will take a positive departure
of less than a half foot to cause minor flooding with the
morning high tides on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As a result,
some minor tidal flooding is quite possible over the coming days
along the coasts of New Jersey and Delaware, along Delaware
Bay, and on the tidal Delaware River. We will continue to
monitor the trends in the tidal departure and we may need to
issues some advisories.
The potential for minor flooding along Chesapeake Bay's upper
eastern shore appears to be lower than that for the tidal areas
of Delaware and New Jersey based on the latest guidance.
