.SYNOPSIS...
In the wake of Tropical Storm Elsa, a cold front will move through
the area tonight. After a brief lull on Saturday, a warm front will
approach for Sunday in association with low pressure tracking
towards the Great Lakes. This slow moving frontal system may affect
the region for much of next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
A shortwave trough tracked into upstate New York this evening.
A well-defined surface cold front sits over west- central
Pennsylvania as of mid-afternoon and will approach our region by
late this afternoon and this evening. Moderate instability (SB
CAPE up to 2000J/kg) has built ahead of the front. We'll also
see up to around 30 kt of bulk shear, not great but enough to
allow some multi- cellular or linear segments to organize. It's
tough to gauge convective potential so soon in the wake of a
tropical cyclone. There tends to be considerable synoptic scale
subsidence in the wake of such storms. The atmosphere was also
very worked over at least in the eastern half of the area by
heavy rain last night, so it remains to fully be seen how well
it will recover. But the sounding profiles this afternoon and
evening do look favorable for damaging wind with good DCAPE
developing and some mid-level dry air working in, which tends to
enhance wind damage potential if it is not strong enough to cut
off the updrafts.

Overall, think the greatest threat for severe weather remains
for east/southeast PA and Delmarva where forcing and
instability are best, but some risk will exist all across the
area. The front will move through during the later evening
hours, giving way to a dry overnight. Winds will shift back to
northwest behind the front, and lows will fall into the 60s.

After an unusually active multi-day stretch of weather, things
finally quiet down on Saturday. Behind the front, drier air will
work in, and a mostly sunny and near seasonable day is expected.
With barely any synoptic flow, the sea breeze will be more prominent
than usual on Saturday, likely making it well inland. The sea breeze
also precludes being able to guarantee a dry forecast. Surface
convergence in the area of the boundary may trigger a couple of
afternoon showers, mainly over New Jersey. This does not at all look
like a widespread event with no synoptic or dynamic support, but
there is enough signal in the CAMs in the face of the expected
mesoscale environment to include slgt chc PoPs over most of New
Jersey. Any showers should dissipate towards sunset, and again,
should be a very nice day on the whole.

&&

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
The rain-free weather will be short lived as higher moisture and
warm advection returns Saturday night continuing into Sunday and
Sunday night.  Scattered showers will move into western sections
late Saturday night and continue Sunday and Sunday night with
afternoon/evening thunderstorms.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
A strong surface high over the western Atlantic Ocean will
occasionally strengthen and ridge back across the Middle Atlantic
states. Meanwhile, a trough/low across the Plains and Ohio Valley
region will remain in place through early mid week and then eject
out across the Great Lakes area.

Precipitation will mostly be convective in nature with late
afternoon and evening hours favored.

The heat will return with afternoon temperatures in the lower 90s,
but 80s in the mountains and along the coast.

.AVIATION /00Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Tonight...Generally VFR however showers with embedded
thunderstorms will likely impact terminals between 00-02z with
any showers or thunderstorms departing shortly after. Winds
shifting from southwest to northwest at around 5 kt, but may be
light and variable or near calm at times. High confidence.

Saturday...VFR. An isolated afternoon shower is possible, but
these should be short duration and limited in both areal
coverage and intensity. Winds northwest at around 5 kt, but may
be light and variable at times. A sea breeze is likely to affect
MIV and ACY, and may reach as far west as the Delaware Valley
terminals by evening. High confidence, except moderate
confidence in the western extent of the sea breeze.

Outlook...

Sat night thru Wednesday...Mostly VFR, but scattered showers and
tstms with lower CIGS/VSBYS possible.

&&

.MARINE...
Through tonight...Southwest winds of 15 to 20 kt through this
evening will diminish and gradually shift to northwest tonight
with a cold frontal passage. Seas 3 to 4 ft. An isolated shower
or tstm is possible through 11PM.

Saturday... Sub-SCA conditions are expected. Northwest wind 5 to 10
kt becoming southerly at 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon and evening.
However, winds may be light and variable at times. Seas 3 to 4
ft.

Outlook...

Sunday through Wednesday...Mostly sub-SCA conditions expected.
Scattered showers and tstms Sunday through Wednesday will bring
localized higher winds and seas.

Rip Currents...

Expect a low risk for rip currents on Saturday as seas drop to
one to two feet on a modest period of around 7 seconds.

At 731 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Saylorsburg, or
14 miles north of Easton, moving east at 15 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
East Stroudsburg, Bangor, Pen Argyl, Wind Gap, Belvidere, Harmony,
Belfast, East Bangor, Stormville, Saylorsburg, Delaware Water Gap,
