at 4 PM on schedule. All other headlines and the rest of the
forecast is unchanged.

SHORT TERM...Tonight through Saturday night...Multiple
disturbances will lead to an active pattern for the next several
days including several rounds of snow for the mountains, primarily
impacting the Cascades.
A cold front will continue to slide eastward across eastern Oregon
and southeast Washington this afternoon with breezy conditions and
snow showers expected to accompany the front. Partial clearing,
somewhat cooler temperatures, and continued breezy conditions are
occurring behind the front. Additionally, a Winter Weather
Advisory remains in effect until 4PM for the northern Blues.
Snow for the northern Blues should diminish this evening with
some light snow showers forecast to linger overnight. Likewise,
the Winter Storm Warning for the Oregon Cascades will be allowed
to expire at 4PM this afternoon as activity is forecast to
continue to weaken this afternoon and tonight.
Another wave currently visible on water vapor imagery off the BC
coast will drop south tonight into tomorrow morning. This wave
will keep west-southwest flow aloft which will favor precipitation
for the Cascades. Total precipitation of 1 to 2 inches is forecast
for the Cascade crest with 0.25 to 0.50 inches for the eastern
slopes tomorrow morning through tomorrow night. As snow levels
are low, this precipitation will fall as snow with 12 to 18 inches
expected for the Oregon Cascade passes and 4 to 6 inches for the
eastern slopes. As such, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for
tomorrow morning through tomorrow night for the east slopes of
the Oregon Cascades. The current Winter Storm Warning for the
Washington Cascades will remain in effect until 4AM tomorrow
morning. Yet another wave will drop down the BC coast and join the
storm parade for Saturday. This will keep precipitation in the
forecast. Lower elevations including the Columbia Basin and
central Oregon may see some light showers through the period, but
are expected to remain mostly in the rain shadow of the Cascades.
Otherwise, breezy south-southwest winds will continue through much
of the period, and the mountains of eastern Oregon will continue
to see some light snow accumulations of around 2 to 8 inches.

LONG TERM...Sunday through Thursday...An upper level low over
western Canada will be dropping down into the Pacific Northwest on
Sunday with a moist onshore flow ahead of it. Snow levels will lower
on Sunday with precipitation changing to all snow over the course of
the day. Colder arctic air will begin filtering into the forecast
area from the north Sunday night and Monday. This surface northern
flow will act to promote upslope flow into northern Oregon and aid
in enhancing snowfall amounts. Water to snow ratios will also
increase beyond the typical 10 to 1 to around 20 to 1 or higher
allowing for higher snowfall accumulations overnight into Monday.
Precipitation will begin to taper off north to south across the
forecast area late Monday and overnight with some lingering showers
over the higher terrain of eastern Oregon on Tuesday. Temperatures
Monday and Tuesday will be cold with highs on Tuesday only in the
teens. Wednesday through Thursday will also be cold with overnights
lows down in the single digits to below zero depending on sky cover.
Some lingering light snow showers will remain possible Wednesday and
Thursday but with only light accumulations.
AVIATION...00z Tafs...A departing front will leave partly to mostly
cloudy skies across Conditions have improved to VFR at all TAF the
forecast area overnight with VFR conditions. Friday will see the
onset of more showers in the afternoon. Winds will be a mix but
overall looking at SW-W 10-20kts and gusts into the 30s through the
evening then decreasing overnight.
