Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Nashville TN 802 PM CDT Mon Jul 26 2021 .UPDATE... FOR EVENING DISCUSSION. && .DISCUSSION... A surface boundary is inching its way southward across Middle Tennessee this evening, with most of the existing cells -- which doesn't amount to a great deal -- occurring right along the boundary. The 00Z sounding from OHX shows considerable instability, with a SBCAPE of 3,901 J/kg and an LI of -8. There is plenty of moisture available -- PWAT is 1.91" -- and also a pronounced dry layer centered around 600 mb. But there is no wind shear to speak of, making this exclusively a downburst environment, and we've witnessed a few of those already with earlier storms. Look for POP's to taper off from north to south throughout the evening, and we'll include fog in the grids primarily for the overnight period. && .AVIATION... 00Z TAF DISCUSSION. TS will leave our mid-state terminals alone for the rest of the night, but we should be in for fog. Showing IFR to LIFR fog across all terminals after midnight and clearing by 14Z Tuesday.
