.SYNOPSIS...Generally dry weather conditions along with
overnight/morning fog expected through Wednesday. Another weather
system will then bring light rainfall to the region from
Wednesday night into Thursday followed by cooler temperatures into
late week. A more potent storm system looks to bring widespread
rainfall to the region late in the weekend into early next week.

.DISCUSSION...as of 03:11 AM PST Wednesday...Ample low level
moisture from recent rains has led to low clouds and patchy fog
early Wednesday morning. Satellite imagery shows a band of high
clouds streaming N to S. At the surface, more widespread clouds
are being observed. This is further confirmed by looking at
webcams and automated sensors showing ceilings at airports. A few
of the airports are also reporting fog with some patchy dense fog
less than a mile. Expect this trend to continue through mid
morning Wednesday.

KMUX radar has been put back into surveillance mode, but that
will be short-lived as another round of light rain is expected
later today and moreso tonight. A weak upper level shortwave
currently riding over the EPac high pressure system is on track to
move over CA Wednesday night. One change from the previous
forecast is the onset of precip on Wednesday. Latest hi-res/near
term models show enough moisture and lift will be present ahead of
the shortwave to spark a few showers late this afternoon.
Therefore, a few isolated showers will be possible later this
afternoon north of approximately San Jose. By tonight though, as
the shortwave moves overhead precip chances become more
widespread. The shortwave trough and associated surface cold front
will be fast moving so precip chances will quickly diminish from
N to S early Thursday. Rainfall amounts will generally be a few
hundredths to a tenth or two in the terrain favored coastal
locations. The airmass associated with this system will be much
colder than the last system. Therefore, snow levels will drop
rapidly overnight and early Thursday. However, there still
appears to be a disconnect from more widespread precip and the
coldest air. There could be some wintry precip over the higher
peaks, but not expecting any accumulations early Thursday.

Thursday will feature clearing skies from N to S with a blustery
north wind. Max temps on Thursday will struggle to make it out of
the mid 50s. As winds diminish and skies clear temperatures will
be rather chilly Thursday night. Areas of frost will be possible
across the inland valleys.

Dry weather continues Friday and Saturday as weak ridging builds
overhead. Temperatures will remain seasonably cool during this
time period as well.

Rain chances return to the Bay Area later in the weekend as a
more organized system moves in. Latest guidance continues to
advertise a deeper and more broad upper level trough building off
the West Coast. By Monday, this trough deepens into a low pressure
system off the PacNW coast with a cold front extending southward.
This front is then forecast to move through Monday into Tuesday.
Unlike the last two system this front will have a deeper moisture
tap leading to higher rainfall amounts. Latest AR guidance does
suggest at least a weak AR and hints at a possibility of a
moderate AR. All that being said, the current forecast will have
rain chances return Saturday night, but increase in
coverage/intensity Sunday and even more on Monday. Much needed
rainfall is on the way....stay tuned.

.AVIATION...as of 3:20 AM PST Wednesday...For the 12z TAFs.
Patchy MVFR/IFR ceilings as well as BR/FG/HZ through 18-20Z. Best
confidence in LIFR visibilities persisting at KSTS, with IFR near
KAPC/KSJC/KMRY/KSNS, and MVFR near KOAK/KSFO/KLVK. Skies will
gradually lift and clear to MVFR area wide around 18-20Z.
Afternoon skies with SCT-BKN at 015-020 forecast to last through
the evening hours for most terminals. The next system approaches
the North Bay terminals starting late evening. VCSH/-RA will move
into KSTS around 04Z with most of the RA falling from 06-12Z for
all terminals. Models possess uncertainty with the spread of RA,
so have kept VCSH for those areas with lower confidence. Best
confidence in RA/+RA is over coastal and bay terminals. Winds
remain light and northwest through the entire period, with
slightly breezier conditions along the coast as the front glides
over the region.

Vicinity of KSFO... Light northwest winds for much of the day with
breezier conditions as the cold front moves over the region near the
end of the TAF period.  HZ/BR will reduce visibility through dawn
and CIGS look to fall to 900 ft AGL in the early morning at times,
leading to IFR. Conditions will be slow to clear today. Slight
chance for -RA returns late Wednesday night through early Thursday
morning as the front passes overhead.

KSFO Bridge Approach...Similar to KSFO.

Monterey Bay...Patchy IFR/LIFR cigs along the coast with reduced
vis through dawn. Expect surface winds to be light to moderate
around the Monterey Bay through the entire TAF period. Chances for
FG/BR with low clouds decrease by late morning. MVFR ceilings
should last most of tomorrow afternoon, with slight chances for
VCSH towards the end of the TAF period.

.MARINE...as of 02:02 AM PST Wednesday...Light to breezy
northwest winds over most of the waters through this afternoon. A
moderate period northwest swell is forecast to arrive during the
day. Winds will strengthen late tonight becoming gusty over most
of the waters by mid-day Thursday as another cold front clips our
outer waters. These gusty winds associated with the frontal
passage will generate steep wind waves, making hazardous
conditions for smaller vessels. Winds will approach. Chances for
rain over the waters by early Thursday morning.
