The remnants of Ida will move west and north of our area
through Wednesday as high pressure weakens off the East Coast.
As Ida moves away, it will drag a cold front across the area
early Thursday with more pleasant and dry weather late week
into the weekend.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 330 PM Tuesday...High pressure weakens over the area
tonight as the remnants of Ida lifts north across the southern
appalachians. Dry conditions expected to continue with
subsidence aloft but will see increasing clouds through the
overnight. Light mixing should preclude fog development. Lows
mainly in the mid 70s inland to upper 70s along the coast.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 345 PM Tuesday...A shortwave trough will dig into the East
Coast Wednesday with the remnants of Ida will lift north of the
area and a trailing cold front pushing through the area early
Thursday. Ahead of the front, increasing southerly flow will
bring increased moisture and instability across the region
with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, especially
Wednesday afternoon and evening. Bulk shear is forecast to be
modest at around 20 kt but 0-1km helicity could peak around
200m2/s2 allowing for some stronger rotating storms that could
bring damaging wind gusts or an isolated tornado and SPC has the
region under a slight risk for severe. The cold front is progged
to push across the area early to mid morning Thursday with the
airmass quickly stabilizing but could see a few showers
continuing before the upper trough axis pushes through during
the afternoon. Highs Wednesday will be around 90 inland to mid
80s coast with much cooler temps Thursday with high around 80 to
lower 80s.

As of 245 AM Tue...High pressure builds back into the region
late in the week and into the weekend.

Friday thru Sat...High pressure will build back into the region
behind the front with dry weather and cooler less humid air.
Highs mostly in the 80s with lows dropping into the 60s inland
with lower 70s beaches.

Sunday and Monday...As the high slides off the coast Sunday and
Mon low lvl flow becomes SW and temps and humidity increase
with highs mostly 85 to 90 Sun and upr 80s to lower 90s Mon. The
increasing moisture Mon may lead to isold convection.

SHORT TERM /through Wednesday/...
As of 2 PM Tuesday...VFR conditions expected through the TAF
period with increasing S to SW flow. Clouds increase overnight
and especially Wednesday as the remnants of Ida lift north of
the area and a trailing cold front approaches the area. Light
mixing should preclude fog development tonight. Showers and
storms expected Wednesday afternoon which will bring periods of
sub VFR conditions. Some storms could be marginally severe with
damaging winds or an isolated tornado possible, especially late
afternoon into the evening hours.

LONG TERM /Wednesday night through Saturday/...
As of 245 AM Tue...Shra/tsra spread to the coast Wed night
into Thu as remnants of Ida pass to the N and push a cold front
across the area. A few pds of sub VFR expected later Wed into
Thu. VFR will return later Thu and cont into Sat as the front
moves offshore with drier air spreading in.

SHORT TERM /Through Wednesday/...
As of 400 PM Tuesday...S to SW winds increase through the short
term as Ida lifts north along the Appalachians into the Mid-
Atlantic and a trailing cold front approaches from the west. SCA
conditions expected to develop by mid day with sly winds around
20-25 kt with gusts to around 30 kt. Seas build to 4 to 6 ft by
late afternoon in response. Have issued a SCA for all waters
beginning early afternoon.

LONG TERM /Wed night through Saturday/...
As of 245 AM Tue...Remnants of Ida will merge with a front to
the NW Wed and pass to the N Wed night. The cold front trailing
the remnant low will swing thru Thu followed by high pres
building in Fri and Sat. SSW winds peak Wed night at 20 to 30
kts. As the cold front crosses Thu winds shift to the NW 10 to
20 kts. High pres building in from the NW Thu night into Fri
will lead to N winds 15 to 25 kts. Winds diminish to less than
15 kts Sat as the high builds closer. Seas peak at 6 to 9 ft
Wed night, briefly subside below 6 ft later Thu, then build
