Weak low pressure will lift north through Eastern NC today. A
weakening cold front will push through Friday night, then a
stronger cold front pushes through later Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THURSDAY MORNING/...
As of 830 PM Wed...Little changes needed for the evening update.
Low clouds have scoured out with mid and high clouds pushing
across the area. Adjusted T/Td to capture latest trends. With
light winds and moist low levels, patchy fog/stratus remains
possible late tonight but guidance is not in best agreement with
coverage or duration so haven't adjusted much from earlier
forecast.

Previous discussion...Sfc low quickly moving northward out of
the region will give way to some breaking clouds south to north
through tonight. High pressure will build in tonight, allowing
for additional clearing and calm winds turning southerly
overnight. Fog possible early Thursday morning with moist low
levels in place. Lows in the 50s.

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY/...
As of 410 PM Wed...Some lingering fog possible through mid
morning before lifting by late morning/early aftn. Amplified
shortwaves across the South Central US will develop a strong sfc
low around the southern MS River Valley. Srly flow between
Atlantic high to the east and developing low to the west will
allow for strong WAA across the CWA. Decent moisture advection
aloft will keep mostly cloudy skies around for the day. Despite
cloud cover, still expecting overall dry weather with aftn temps
reaching the upper 70s to around 80 inland and upper 60s to
around 70 along the coast.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 330 AM Wed..Very warm temperatures on tap for the second
half of the week, with several chances for thunderstorms through
the weekend. Much cooler and drier to start the work week.

Friday...Warmest temps of the season are on tap, as strong
swrly flow cont to usher in very warm and moistening air mass.
It will feel a bit muggy as well, with TDs in the 60s combining
with highs well into the 80s. First time use of air conditioning
is envisioned for many folks in ENC. Strong onshore flow will
keep temps in the 70s for the coastal areas.

With the introduction of very warm and moist airmass,
instability will be on the inc as well. Latest 24/00Z suite of
global model guide (ECM/GFS) have some convection breaking out
by afternoon, and with plentiful shear in place on the order of
+40-50kt, could be a severe threat. Limiting factor will be deep
moisture, as some higher res models (NAM/CMC) still very sparse
with convection. Will have to watch over the next several model
cycles, but enough conf to inc pops to low end chc over much of
ENC.

Saturday...Weakened cold front will have moved through late Fri
evening, with somewhat cooler, albeit still well above climo.
Drier conditions as well so humidity vals will be more
tolerable. High temps expected in the mid/upr 70s inland with
low/mid 70s coast.

Saturday night through Sunday...Yet another threat for
showers/storms for the second half of the wkend, as stronger and
deeper shortwave trough is set to dig into the Great Lakes and
then through the Mid Atlantic states, with an attendant sharp
cold front pushing through by Sun night. Warm front will lift
through Sat night, with isentropic lift inc chances for showers
and some storms, as instability will inc in tandem with lifting
warm front. Main cold front then approaches and moves through
the region later Sun, and ahead of the front, more
showers/storms expected. Will limit pops to high chc, as
coverage of convection is still in question this far out.
Another chc for some severe, as combination of instability and
strong shear will be in place with this system. High Sun in the
70s to low 80s.

Monday through Tuesday...Aforementioned strong cold front
pushes through by the start of the work week, with a return to
near climo or a bit below. Mo sunny skies and lowered TD's, with
blustery NW winds will make highs in the 60-65 range feel
cooler. Low temps Mon night dip down to near 40 inland to 45-50
coast. Tue begins the moderating trend, with highs rebounding to
climo, in the 65-70 range with cont dry conditions.

.AVIATION /00Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Short Term /through Thursday/...
As of 750 PM Wed...Low pressure has lifted north of the area
and VFR conditions with sct-bkn mid and high clouds prevail
across ENC this evening. With light winds and moist low levels
we could see patchy to areas of IFR/LIFR fog/stratus develop
late tonight. Guidance is not in best agreement with areal
coverage but highest probs are from around 09-13z and have pred
group in the TAFs for this period. Conditions expected to
improve fairly quickly Thu morning with pred VFR returning mid
morning and continuing through the afternoon.

Long Term /Thursday night through Sunday/...
As of 330 AM Wed...Mainly VFR conditions likely through early
this weekend. Swrly winds become quite gusty ahead of cold front
on Friday. There may be some sct thunderstorms Fri afternoon,
then again Sat night into Sun, with local sub VFR conditions.

Short Term /through Thursday/...
As of 820 PM Wed...Area buoys showing seas have dropped below 6
ft and have cancelled the SCA for all waters with the latest
update. SW winds around 15 kt or less with seas around 3-5 ft
will prevail overnight.

Weak sfc low will continue to push northward tonight as high
pressure takes control again over the region. Winds become more
Srly as a weak warm front pushes through early Thu morning,
allowing warm, moist air to push northward. Some fog development
is very likely as this front pushes through. Crystal Coast
should see fog clearing out with a few hours after daybreak, but
fog could stick around OBX into the early aftn. Srly winds 5-10
kts Thu with seas 2-4 ft.

Long Term /Thursday night through Sunday/...
As of 330 AM Wed...Thu night, the winds inc to 15-20 kt as
gradient inc with cold front to the west. The cold front
continues marching towards the waters on Fri, with swrly winds
inc to 20-30 kt and SCA once again expected with 4-6+ ft seas
developing. The front passes through Fri night with winds dec
and turning nrly by early Sat, but will remain light through the
day Sat. Winds turn back around to the SW and inc once again
during the day Sun, with SCA conditions once again possible.
