THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will build over the area through Saturday. Another
coastal low will impact the area Sunday into Tuesday. High
pressure will build across the middle of next week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY MORNING/...
As of 745 PM Fri...Temps are dropping quickly into the lower
30s/upper 20s this evening under clear skies. Little changes
needed for the evening update other than to capture trends.

Latest surface analysis shows broad area of high pressure
extending across the eastern CONUS this afternoon with an upper
ridge amplifying over the Plains. Clear skies expected tonight
with very dry air mass in place. Bit of a tricky low temperature
forecast with multiple factors at play. Over the coastal plain,
winds should decouple after sunset allowing temperatures to
plummet, while over the waters northerly flow of 10 kt or so
should result in better mixing and higher minimums. Furthermore,
satellite shows band of snow-covered terrain along the Roanoke
river hanging on and this should help the northern tier radiate
even further. Pushed lows well into the 10s from Martin County
east into Washington, but considering Tds could fall to around
10 these lows could be generous still.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM SATURDAY/...
As of 400 PM Fri...High pressure will gradually shift overhead
on Saturday keeping dry weather in place. Low-level thicknesses
will slowly rise through the day as flow backs southwesterly
aloft ahead of robust cyclogenesis over the central CONUS, but
highs will still only be in the upper 30s to low 40s for most.
Clear skies initially will give way to increasing mid and high
level clouds ahead of the aforementioned system.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 3 AM Friday...Another low pressure system will impact the
area late Saturday night through early next week. High pressure
builds back into the region midweek.

Saturday night through Monday...Models continue to show a
significant low pressure system developing over the Central Plains
on Saturday and lift into the OH Valley Saturday night into Sunday.
As the low continues to lift NE, a secondary low is to develop over
the Carolinas Sunday night and further deepen off of the DELMARVA
coast Monday. Within the last 24 hours models have been backing off
on the the amount of moisture for Saturday night due to drier
air still lingering from the high pressure. At this time,
decreased POPs across most of the forecast area, with 20% PoP
across the inner Coastal Plains, but there remains a concern for
possible rain/snow mix, even maybe freezing rain, but still to
early to fine tune the precip type as there remains some
uncertainty. By Sunday morning, any type of frozen precip will
quickly transition to rain and will remain steady rain through
Monday morning. With lingering showers on the backside of the
low on Monday into Tuesday. During this period, models are
indicating heavy rain with rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches. With
a moist ground soils across E NC and these predicted rainfall
amounts, can lead to possible minor flooding, especially in low
lying areas...will continue to monitor. Expect highs in the
upper 40s to mid 50s Sunday/Monday.

Wednesday through Friday...Once the low has lifted into the New
England area, high pressure will build in from the west by
midweek and continue through Thursday. A cold front is forecast
to approach the area on Friday with rain showers to move ahead
of the boundary. Temperatures will drop back into the 40s on
Tuesday with a gradual warming throughout the end of the week
with Friday temps reaching back into the 60s.

.AVIATION /01Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Short Term /through Saturday/...
As of 730 PM Fri...VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF
period. Generally clear skies tonight with increasing high
clouds through the day Saturday. Winds expected to be less than
10 kt through the period at the TAF sites, but will be stronger
along the coast through Saturday morning.

Long Term /Sat night through Tuesday/...
As of 3 AM Friday...VFR conditions to dominate through Saturday
as high pressure builds into the region. Another round of sub-
VFR conditions with possible IFR on Sunday into Monday as precip
will spread across the area. Conditions are expect to improve
to VFR Monday night through Tuesday.

.MARINE...
Short Term /Tonight and Saturday/...
As of 745 PM Fri...NW to N winds are diminishing a bit faster
than expected this evening and are around 10-20 kt across the
sounds and rivers and 15-25 with gusts up to 30 kt across the
coastal waters. Seas remain elevated around 6-9 ft from around
Diamond Shoals northward, 4-6 ft for much of Raleigh Bay, and
2-4 across Onslow Bay. Have dropped the SCA for the remainder of
the sounds but will keep north of Cape Lookout for gusts up to
30 kt and seas 6-9 ft.

Winds will continue to diminish through Saturday as high
pressure builds into the area and expect N to NW winds 15 kt or
less all waters by late afternoon. Seas will subside more
slowly...to 5-7 feet north and central waters and 2-4 feet
southern waters Saturday afternoon.

Long Term /Sat night through Tuesday/...
As of 3 AM Friday...Winds will veer E 10-15 kts Sun morning and
become SE 15-25 kts Sunday afternoon due to a developing low.
As the low lifts NE, winds will become NW 15-20 kts Monday, and
further increase on Tuesday to 20-25 kts. Seas will build above
6 ft Sunday afternoon though Tuesday.
