A cold front with limited moisture will move through Friday. High pressure regains control at least temporarily Saturday with a series of shortwaves passing nearby Sunday into early next week. && .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/... As of 100 AM Thursday...Minor adjustments to Tdp this update, the rest of the forecast remains on track. Prev disc...As of 645 PM Wed...High pressure will remain anchored over the area through tonight, with clear skies and light winds persisting. Sharp diurnal curve underway as very dry atms and a decoupled atms lead to efficient cooling. Temps once again in the 20s overnight save for the immediate beach communities. After seeing highs in the low 50s this afternoon, temperatures are expected to drop precipitously again around sunset as winds quickly decouple for most areas except the immediate coast. Despite low level heights increasing some today, continued dry lower levels with dewpoints down into the teens this afternoon, will allow for exceptional radiational cooling tonight. We'll see most locations drop below freezing this evening, and lows are expected in the mid to upper 20s for all but the immediate coast. Right along the beaches and Outer Banks, just a slight wind will keep temps from falling past the mid 30s, however these areas could still see areas of frost, and since the growing season has not ended yet for the Outer Banks, a Frost advisory has been issued there for tonight. && .SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH 6 PM FRIDAY/... As of 220 PM Wed...High pressure will remain in control for Thanksgiving Day, and will rebuild to our south over the course of the day, allowing for southerly flow to develop in the afternoon.
