.SYNOPSIS...
A warm front will lift north across the area Monday night as strong
low pressure passes by well to the west. High pressure will again
build over the area Tuesday into early Wednesday, before a strong
coastal storm impacts the area mid to late next week.

.NEAR TERM /Overnight/...
As of 10 PM Sun...Have adjusted pops upwards aft 06Z, as
regional radar returns and obs indicate -ra or sprinkles across
ctrl NC this evening. Near term guid indicates lift inc with
clouds lowering and sub cloud layer moistening late tonight, so
think covg of rain should be fairly widespread, albeit light, by
the pre-dawn hours.

Prev discussion...As of 7 PM Sun...No big changes. Longer pd of
mo clear skies early this evening has allowed temps to plummet,
and with calm winds and low TD's, have edged min T's down a
degree or so. WAA already underway aloft, so mid/high clouds
will quickly develop and put an end to the downward cratering in
temps, so not expecting any lower than low/mid 30s this
evening.

Prev discussion... As of 320 PM Sun...High pressure will begin
to slip offshore tonight ahead of an approaching warm front
associated with a strengthening low across the southern plains.
Latest guidance shows the front end of the front lifting towards
the Carolinas Monday morning, bringing some light shower
activity with it. Forecast soundings, however, do show a very
dry airmass in place that will inhibit much precip from reaching
the sfc despite WAA. Expect mostly virga overnight until a few
hours prior to sunrise as the lower levels becomes more
saturated. Inc clouds overnight along with the onset of WAA will
halt radiational cooling overnight and encourage a non- diurnal
temp curve with gradual warming occuring after midnight. Lows
tonight will be in the mid to upper 30s.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
As of 330 PM Sun...Warm front steadily pushes through the
region during the late day Monday with widespread rainfall as a
deepening low treks across the Mississippi River Valley into the
Ohio River Valley. Maintained likely to categorical POPs
through late monday afternoon. Warm front will reach the
northern tier by late Monday night and linger around the VA/NC
border as upper level troughing will become less pronounced,
resulting in the main low weakening across the Midwest. Within
the warm sector, showers will remain mostly sct across the
southern CWA with better coverage across the northern half.
Lowered POPs overnight across the southern tier to chc with
likely POPs remaining in the northern counties. Cold front will
begin to approach the region as low pressure complex begins to
shift eastward, providing continued POPs through Tuesday.

Expect temps to gradually warm from Monday morning through early
Tuesday morning as the warm front lifts across the area and
initiates WAA. Aftn temps Monday will be around the mid to upper
40s north of Hwy 70 with low to mid 50s south. Temps overnight
Monday night into Tuesday morning will actually see around 50
across northern counties to around 60 along the southern coast.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 210 AM Sun...A fairly complex storm system will push
through the area through Tuesday, producing rain and gusty
winds. High pressure will then briefly build into the area Tue
night into Wednesday. A stronger storm system is expected to
impact the area Wednesday night into Thursday night with the
potential for heavy precipitation and strong winds which will be
followed by cooler and drier conditions for Friday and
Saturday.

Tuesday through Wednesday...Cold front portion of the storm
complex is forecast to cross the region Tue night. Chc for some
showers ahead of the boundary. Since the area will be in the
warm sector Tue, highs will be well into the 60s to perhaps
reaching the low 70s. Behind this system Tuesday night, temps
will plunge into the 30s, with highs only in the 40s expected on
Wednesday with high pressure briefly building in. While most of
Wed should be dry, rain should begin to move north toward
Eastern NC and there will be a chance of rain mainly south of
Highway 70 in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night through Thursday night...There is increasing
confidence that another complex area of low pressure will move
into the region Wednesday night, and then deepen rapidly off the
NC coast Thursday into Thu night. Model solutions have
converged on a low vicinity of NC Thu, but still differ greatly
on the evolution and track of this system which leads to
uncertainty on P-type/QPF amounts/and strength of the winds.
This low will have the potential to deepen rapidly. Since the
track of this low will be critical to determining impacts to the
area, which could possibly include snow, heavy rain, very
strong winds, and coastal flooding, it is still too early to
determine the exact impacts to Eastern NC. The evolution of this
system will be closely monitored over the next several days.

Friday and Saturday...Drier and much colder weather is expected
Friday and Sat as the low pulls away and high pressure builds
over the area.

.AVIATION /03Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Short Term /through 18Z Monday/...
As of 7 PM Sun...High clouds this evening will gradually lower
and thicken tonight with no restrictions expected through
midnight. MVFR will begin to develop very late tonight, and
between 09Z and 12Z may impact the terminals. Conditions go
downhill further during the day, and widespred LIFR/IFR in both
cigs/vsbys expected with widespread rain, esp after 15z.

Winds through the forecast will not poise any issues to aviation
with calm tonight, and light easterly Monday.

Long Term /Monday night through Friday/...
As of 210 AM Sun...A large storm system will move into the area
on Monday into Tuesday, with periods of sub-VFR conditions
likely. VFR conditions are expected Tue late afternoon into Wed
as high pressure builds over the area. Periods of sub VFR
conditions in widespread rain are expected Thu as low pressure
develops near the area.

.MARINE...
Short Term /Tonight through Monday night/...
As of 355 PM Sun...Latest obs show all central and northern
zones have fallen below small craft criteria, allows advisories
to be dropped.

Light N winds will continue through Sunday evening before high
pressure moves offshore towards the SE and shifts winds more
Wrly overnight. Warm front will then make its approach towards
the waters Monday, shifting winds more Erly around 10-15 kts ahead
of the boundary with SWrly flow ramping up behind it around
15-20 kts with gusts up to 25-30 kts as the warm front moves
northward. Expecting the boundary to reach the northern waters
by the early evening hours with strong SW winds across the
central and southern waters at that time. Seas 1-3 ft tonight
will ramp up to 4-6 ft by Monday evening with the onset of
strong SW flow, reaching 5-7 ft overnight Monday into Tue
morning. High confidence SCA will be issued for southern and
central waters Monday night, extending into Tuesday.

Long Term /Tuesday through Thursday/...
As of 210 AM Sun...Winds will subside slightly to 10-20 kt out
of the W on Tuesday, but with elevated seas continuing.
Wednesday winds will be N 10-15 kt with seas briefly subsiding
to 2-4 ft. As low pressure develops just off of the coast Thu,
winds will rapidly increase to Gale Force with seas building to
7-10 ft by early evening.
