.DISCUSSION...The disturbance before the calm is beginning to
taper off with showers diminishing this afternoon. Although the
radar is showing showers south of the Umpqua Divide inland into
extreme northern California, but except for the Cascades there are
no indications that it is actually reaching the ground. Showers
taper off quickly by this evening as the front moves east and an
upper level ridge building with a thermal trough deepening along
the southern coast tonight.
The upper ridge continues to build into the weekend with the
thermal trough deepening further, with offshore flow spreading
east to cover the entire forecast area by Saturday morning. This
building upper ridge pattern continues into next week with
temperatures rising to more than twenty degrees above normal by
Tuesday. High temperatures Tuesday are expected to be around 100
to slightly above 100 in the Rogue valley, and the lower to mid
90s north of the Umpqua Divide. East of the cascades high
temperatures around 90 to the lower 90s can be expected, and
nearing 110 in the valleys of Western Siskiyou county.
The upper ridge shifts east with southerly flow starting to feed
moisture into the region. This brings a small area where there is
both instability and sufficient mid level moisture to allow
continued vertical development east of the Cascades, and have
added small areas of slight chance thunderstorms in those area
both of those days. However, confidence is low for thunderstorm

.AVIATION...For the 27/18Z TAF Cycle...A cold front will bring rain,
and areas of MVFR conditions to the coast this morning. As the front
moves inland, plan on terrain obscurations for most of the
afternoon. However, ceilings will turn VFR by the late evening as
the front moves east and some drier air is able to filter into the
boundary layer. As for tonight, there is potential for another
round of MVFR ceilings and visibilities are expected along the coast
and near North Bend. Some of the data suggests ceilings will have
trouble staying below 3000 feet over North Bend later tonight. By
tomorrow 18Z, widespread VFR conditions are expected.

will persist through tonight. Strong north winds will then develop
while a thermal trough builds along the coast. Very steep wind waves
will subsequently develop under these thermal trough winds Friday
night into Saturday morning. We issued a hazardous seas warning as
seas will be around 10 to 12 feet with a wave period around 8
seconds Friday night. High and steep seas around 6 to 8 feet will
continue into next week.
