Lake has water on it. Water is up to most of the levee west of
Island 40 Chute and on south to I-55. Most land between Memphis

end of Mud Island at the mouth of the Wolf River is covered. In
Arkansas, recreational vehicle park south of West Memphis starts
to flood. Dacus Lake Road is flooding north and south of I-40. The
river is against the toe of the levee from the north Shelby County
line south to near Sulcer Road. Water is encroaching the levee
near the south end of Island 40 Chute. The camp near Mound City is
flooding. Water is beginning to flood the settlement near Blue
Lake.

Not a lot of change to the current forecast. Another pleasant day
on tap for the Mid-South with highs in the lower 50s.
Unfortunately lows will dip down to the upper 20s to lower 30s
tonight allowing for a Freeze Warning. No real changes were made
to the forecast.

DISCUSSION...
Well, we finally made it to April after a hectic month of severe
weather in March. The good news is that the first week of April
looks to start dry, albeit unseasonably cold. Skies are currently
clear and temperatures are brisk with readings in the upper 30s to
lower 40s. Temperatures haven't quite fallen as quick as
previously forecasted, due to a persistent 5 to 10 mph gradient
wind across the region.
At the surface, a 1036mb high was analyzed over southeast Nebraska
with a 1004 mb off the coast of Long Island. This surface high
will continue to pivot southeast into the Mississippi Valley over
the next couple of hours. This should allow winds to relax a bit
and temperatures to plummet to or near freezing by sunrise across
a large portion of the Mid-South. Current freeze warning looks
good. Will continue the freeze warning through 9AM.
The Canadian surface high will remain over the region through
Saturday morning. This will result in below normal temperatures
across the Mid-South through Saturday. Friday morning lows will
drop to or below freezing across the entire region, with a hard
freeze of 28F or below expected for much of west Tennessee and
eastern Arkansas. This will likely harm or kill any newly bloomed
vegetation, especially for areas that experience a hard freeze.
Will continue the freeze warning from midnight through 9AM
Friday. Another frost or freeze is possible again on Saturday
morning, as temperatures fall into the low to mid 30s areawide.

High pressure will finally slide east during the day on Saturday.
This will set up return flow across the region, resulting in a
warming trend. Highs will climb back into the 60s for Saturday and
to near 70F on Sunday. Weak upper level ridging will keep the
warming trend going early next week. Expect highs to climb into
the upper 70s and lower 80s by Wednesday. Rain chances will
return late Wednesday as a shortwave ejects across the Plains.
