.DISCUSSION...

The heat is on! A heat advisory is currently in effect for
portions of North MS and northeast AR until 7PM this evening.
Current temperatures are in the 90s with dewpoints in the
low/middle 70s. Overall, heat indices are not as high as they
were yesterday but there are still readings ranging from 100-107F
already. Overnight, temperatures will lower into the 70s. Given
the presence of surface high pressure across the region, rain free
conditions are expected until the weekend.

Despite dry conditions, we expect the heat to stick around through
the remainder of the workweek. Highs Thursday and Friday will be
in the upper 90s (approaching 100F) with dewpoints still in the
70s. Will go with another Heat Advisory for the entire Mid-South
on Thursday. Will hold off on issuing for Friday.

Northwest flow will return by the weekend as the upper level
pattern amplifies to our west and our east. During the weekend a
cold front will travel south towards the MS Valley region. This
will result in rain returning to the forecast late Saturday into
early next week. Behind the front, we will have a nice cool down.
High temperatures will be in the 80s with dewpoints in the 60s!
