* WHERE...In Mississippi, Tunica, Tallahatchie, Yalobusha, 
  Panola, Quitman, Coahoma and Tate Counties. In Arkansas, Lee 
  AR and Phillips Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat 
  illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

.DISCUSSION...

As we "step into the velvet of the morning", temperatures are in the
mid to upper 70s. Temperatures will warm up into low 90s. Heat
indices will reach into the low 100s for most of the area. A Heat
Advisory is in effect from 11AM to 8PM for east central Arkansas and
NE Mississippi along the delta. Heat indices are expected reach to
105F in that area. As always please take the necessary precautions
when heat indices are this high.

The upper level ridge will continue to influence the weather through
the weekend. Diurnal showers and thunderstorms are possible. With
temperatures being in the upper 80s heat advisory headlines go by
the way side Friday into the weekend.

Over the weekend a tropical disturbance is expected to move into the
GoM and that is where the focus for Monday through Wednesday of next
week begins. This system is anticipated to become better organized
in the Gulf and may very well become the next named storm which
would be named Ida. Model guidance has shown quite a bit of
uncertainty as to where this system makes landfall. It is a very
real possibility that we see some impacts from this cyclone. Impacts
at this time could be heavy rain and wind. We will be watching this
very closely to please stay tuned for updates.

VFR conditions will continue through the period. Patchy fog will
be possible at MKL again tonight resulting in lower vis. Latest
guidance suggests a better chance of showers and storms Thursday
afternoon given the development of southeasterly flow. The best
potential for development will be across northeast MS. Winds will
turn to the more to the south through the period generally 5-7kts.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of East Arkansas...
the Missouri Bootheel...North Mississippi...and West Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Heat indices in NE Mississippi and east central Arkansas along the
delta will be around 105 degrees.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Friday through the weekend, the probability for widespread
hazardous weather is low. A tropical system is forecast to move
into the western Gulf of Mexico over the weekend. There is still a
lot of uncertainty with this system. It could impact the Mid-
South Monday through Wednesday with heavy rain being main threat
at this time.
