PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
River forecasts are based on current conditions and rainfall

* At 9:30 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 77.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 79.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage Sunday
afternoon and continue rising to 81.6 feet by Thursday morning.
Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 79.0 feet, Property in low lying areas needs to be
removed. Access roads to oil and gas rigs may be flooded. Levee
gates should be closed before the river reaches 80 feet. There is
minor flooding at this level.
* Impact...At 80.0 feet, Minor flooding occurs at this level. Levee
gates should be closed to prevent the river from backing into
Calion Lake. Access to oil and gas rigs and to timber is flooded.
There is wide coverage of flooding in the river bottoms.

Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Little Rock AR 547 AM CDT Sat Apr 24 2021 .DISCUSSION... Updated to include the 12Z aviation discussion below... && .AVIATION... Most of the TSRA has moved east of the area this morning...with just some scattered SHRA ongoing across central to NRN AR. Some improvements have been seen in flight rules behind the TSRA across the south...but Expect CIGs to remain low under the SHRA for central and NRN terminals. Further south...while improvements are ongoing...expect CIGs to drop for a few hrs later this morning...until improvements are seen once again later this afternoon. Most of the precip will move out of the area by late this afternoon and especially this evening...with flight conditions improving area wide for tonight. However...some patchy fog could be seen by Sun morning for some areas. && .PREV DISCUSSION...(ISSUED 419 AM CDT Sat Apr 24 2021) SHORT TERM...Today Through Sunday Night Main Wx concern in the short term will be this morning as ongoing convection moves across the CWA... Widespread SHRA has been moving NE/E across the CWA during the overnight and early morning period...with some embedded TSRA noted. Recent radar imagery shows a more potent bowing line of convection over SERN sections of the CWA...moving generally east between 40-50 mph. Most obs show the line producing well below SVR level winds...with generally 15-30 mph wind gusts. Recent data has also shown a decrease in lightning density...which along with storm height suggests non-SVR convection. However...will need to monitor this line over time as it moves east for any possible strengthening. Some strong...sub-SVR wind gusts could be seen up to around 50 mph...and cannot completely rule out an isolated threat for a SVR gust before this convection moves east of the CWA by before sunrise. Later this morning and into the afternoon hrs...wrap around moisture will drop SE over the NRN half of the state under the main upper level trough/low. Expect primarily SHRA with maybe some isolated TSRA with this activity into the afternoon hrs before all precip ends late this afternoon and this evening as the trough exits the region. Dry conditions will then be seen for the area by tonight as a result. High pressure will move into the state by Sun morning...then shift east by Sun afternoon. SRLY SFC flow will return as a result...with highs on Sun in the 60s and 70s...under a mostly sunny sky. Mostly clear conditions will be seen for Sun night...with lows in the 50s. Dry weather will continue into the first part of the long term period. LONG TERM...Monday Through Friday By Monday, an upper ridge will be in place across much of the CONUS with surface high pressure shifting to the eastern states. An upper trough will amplify, expanding over the SW region early in the week, and eventually move eastward across the southern Plains, where a storm system will develop late Tues to early Wed. The system will move eastward across the southern Plains through the end of the week. Model guidance remains inconsistent, with the GFS continuing to move about 24 hours faster than the ECMWF. Therefore, model uncertainty remains high with the timing of precipitation and thunderstorms with the mid week system. Regardless of timing discrepancies, models are showing upper level forcing for ascent and a storm system with a cold front moving in from the west. Ahead of the system, southerly flow the first half of the week will increase heat and moisture levels, increasing potential for heavy rain with strong to severe storms when the cold front arrives. Expect changes in the coming days as model guidance resolves those discrepancies. Above average temperatures are forecast during the early part of the week, with highs in the lower 80s and lows in the 60s Mon-Wed. Depending on the timing of the cold front, NW AR high temps Wed may be in the 70s. Temps the second half of the week will be slightly below average following the cold front, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s.
