.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will build south of the region Monday into
Tuesday while low pressure remains over the eastern Great Lakes
through mid week. A cold front will cross the area Thursday
night. High pressure will build toward the region toward the end
of the week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...

Clouds continue to build east of the mtns this morning and
should continue to do that through the rest of the day with a
generally cloudy/mostly cloudy day on tap. Snow showers should
continue over the mtns through midday before shortwave-ridge
axis builds overhead and activity wanes. A second and more
significant round of mountain snow showers is expected late
today through Monday as an upper low over the mid-MS valley
pushes east. Snow accumulations will likely exceeed the advisory
criteria but over a 24-hr period, but aren't likely to meet the
24-hr warning criteria of 8 inches. Also, very difficult to
determine a 12-hr period of greatest accumulation as depth of
moisture, temperatures, orographic lift, and winds are all fcst
to remain the same over the entire 24-hr period. If I were to
guess, perhaps the 03Z-15Z Mon time frame looks like the best
period of most significant accumulation. Since a Winter Wx
Advisory is already in effect, another one will not be issued at
this time.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...

Mountain snow showers will persist through mid week and likely
beyond that in WNW flow and around longwave trough situated
over the eastern half of the U.S. Elsewhere, generally fair
weather and seasonable temperatures are expected with gusty
W to NW winds as area remains between low pressure over the
eastern Great Lks and high pressure over the Southeast.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...

Seasonably cool with gusty winds out of the west-northwest at 20-30
mph on Wednesday, owing to the aforementioned cold front passage.
This will keep wind chill values near to below freezing for much of
the day. Otherwise, mostly dry across the region, aside from a few
lingering upslope snow showers Wednesday morning along/west of the
Allegheny Front.

Another frontal boundary will sweep through the region later
Thursday, bringing a slight chance for some precipitation across the
area. Timing will be key here, as some areas could see a rain/snow
mix, or even all snow. The upper-level system ejecting out of the
central Plains will be fairly weak, so have a hard time seeing much
(if any) precip with this system outside of some potentially upslope
snow showers once again. Recent model trends agree with this, as
chance of precip has dropped greatly in the past few runs of
guidance. So, will be coming down on POPs in the foreast for that
period.

Progressively cooler Friday and Saturday as a reinforcing cold front
pushes through Friday. This also appears to be dry in nature, but
could see some more upslope snow out west. This should largely end
by Saturday, as high pressure begins building in from the northwest,
ushering in much cooler air into the region.

.AVIATION /08Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...

BKN cigs 040-050 today with W winds 10-15kt. Clearing this
evening before more clouds arrive late tonight and Mon in brisk
NW flow. Winds will gust around 25kt Mon and Tue.

Gusty winds expected Wednesday out of the WNW, with gusts up to 30
knots possible at most terminals (maybe closer 35 knots at MRB and
20-25 at CHO). Expect VFR conditions during this time period though.
Winds will relax Wednesday evening into THursday, with continued VFR
conditions likely. There is a slight chance for some precipitation
at all termiansl on Thursday, which could bring some flight
restrictions, but that threat seems to have largely diminished with
recent model runs.

.MARINE...

SCA conditions into early afternoon and diminishing thereafter.
However, winds may remain above SCA thresholds across the
southern waters tonight and strengthen again Mon and remain
brisk through Tue with gusts to around 25 kt. Expect winds to
diminish at night.

Small Craft Advisories likely on Wednesday, with gusty WNW winds.
Winds taper off into Wednesday evening and Thursday, but SCA's may
still be needed, as it will be close to threshold.
