* Forecast...Heavy rainfall from Hurricane Ida will cause the river 
  to rise above flood stage early Monday afternoon to a crest of 
  17.5 feet early Tuesday morning. This forecast may change based on 
  the track of Ida. Continue to monitor these forecasts for updates.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Some roads in the county inundated but 
  passable. Homes in Westchester Subdivision, Picayune will be 
  threatened. Water over a few roads in the city of Picayune will 
  cause traffic problems. School bus traffic may need alternate

* Forecast...Heavy rainfall from Hurricane Ida will cause the river 
  to rise above flood stage early Monday afternoon to a crest of 
  16.5 feet early Tuesday morning. This forecast may change based on 
  the track of Ida. Continue to monitor these forecasts for updates.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet, Water over a few roads in the city of 
  Picayune will cause traffic problems. School bus traffic may need 
  alternate routes. A few homes on Northwood Drive will be 
  threatened. Beech Street and Westchester Subdivision below the

  low places.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Moderate flooding in areas near the stream

* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Moderate flooding in areas near the stream 
  in Picayune. Water will be in garages of several homes between MS 
  Highway 43 and Beech Street bridge. Northwood Drive will be 
  impassable with some homes flooded.

* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Some roads in the county inundated but 
  passable. Homes in Westchester Subdivision, Picayune will be

.Aviation...12Z TAFs

Outside of shower and thunderstorm influences, VFR conditions will
continue through most of the period. A weak disturbance aloft will
usher waves of scattered to numerous showers and storms across
southern LA and coastal southwest Mississippi today. In and near
convection, brief MVFR or lower conditions can occur. This activity
is expected to develop after 16z then diminish around 01z this
evening. Easterly winds increasing 10-15 knots with gusts around 20
knots. By early Sunday morning, the outer bands of Hurricane Ida
will be nearing coastal TAF sites. After the TAF period, more solid
rains will be on the increase with tropical force wind gusts with
outer rain bands particularly for coastal TAFs after 9 am Sunday.

.Short Term (Today through Monday)...
The main concern in the short term will continue to be Hurricane Ida
as it approaches SE Louisiana. Ida is continuing its northwest track
through the Gulf and is expected to reach the north central Gulf
coast by Sunday. This storm is forecast to be a MAJOR Hurricane as
it nears Louisiana and is expected to reach category 4 intensity
just before landfall Sunday afternoon/evening. Conditions will start
to deteriorate mainly along coastal areas this evening and will get
continue to get worse as the hurricane moves inland on Sunday.

Hurricane Ida is forecast to bring CATASTROPHIC storm surge to a
large portion of SELA and these extreme surge values will be found
in coastal Mississippi as well. Hurricane conditions will occur to
all of SE Louisiana and possibly even portions of southern MS.
Extremely life-threatening inundation of 10 to 15 ft will be
possible from Morgan City,LA to the Mouth of the Mississippi River.
7 to 11 ft will be possible from the Mouth of the Mississippi to
Ocean Springs, Ms. 4 to 7 ft will be possible from Ocean Springs, MS
to the AL border. Lake Pontchartrain may see inundation of 4 to 7ft
and Lake Maurepas may see 3 to 5 ft. The Storm Surge warning
continues to be in effect at this time.

Hurricane Ida will likely bring heavy rainfall to the entire area as
it makes landfall on Sunday. Flash Flooding will likely become a
problem in urban and flood prone areas across SE LA and Coastal MS.
Event total rainfall is expected to be 8 to 16 inches with an
isolated 20 inches possible. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from
Sunday morning through Tuesday morning for all of the area.

Hurricane force winds will be possible across all SE Louisiana
parishes starting Sunday. Catastrophic wind damage will be possible
where the core of Ida moves onshore. Tropical Force winds capable of
producing significant wind damage will be possible along the MS
coast including our MS counties of responsibility. Hurricane and
Tropical Storm warnings continue to be in effect for these areas.

This is a very dangerous situation that should be taken very
seriously, so listening to your local officials could be life
dependent! If you are in areas with evacuation orders; it is crucial
that you adhere to them and leave now. Any additional hurricane
preparations should be RUSHED and FINALIZED TODAY! /TDB/

.Long Term (Monday night and beyond)...

Focus will primarily be on the short term portion of the forecast,
where the significant impacts are. Current Hurricane Ida should be
over central Mississippi Monday evening, moving northeast of the
area, and should be a tropical storm or depression at that point.
Impacts should be diminishing locally at that point. Northerly winds
behind the system would normally bring somewhat drier air into at
least the northern portions of the area, but forecast soundings keep
precipitable water values near or over 2 inches through at least
Wednesday, especially over southern portions of the area. May
eventually be able to dry out northern portions of the area by the
end of the week. Wet ground should keep temperatures near below
normal during the day, but with high humidity levels. 35

.Marine...
The main concern for the marine forecast will continue to be
Hurricane Ida as it tracks northwest into the Gulf. Hurricane Ida
continue to intensify and is forecast to be a Category 4 Major
Hurricane at landfall. Can expect to start seeing marine impacts
from Ida as early as tonight. Seas are forecast to be greater than
20ft in the inner waters, and greater than 30ft in the outer waters.
Hurricane force winds up to 60kts are forecast to impact the coastal
LA waters starting Sunday morning. Tropical storm force winds up to
40kts are forecast to impact coastal MS waters east of the Mouth of
MS River early Sunday morning. These conditions will continue to
deteriorate throughout the day Sunday as Ida moves onshore.
Hurricane Warnings will continue for coastal LA from the Lower
Atchafalaya River to SW Pass of the MS River. East of the Mouth of
MS River, a Tropical Warning and Hurricane Watch will continue. /TDB/
