.SHORT TERM (Now through Thursday night): A surface trough of low
pressure across southern Louisiana will continue to provide
scattered showers and thunderstorms across portions of southeast
Louisiana and extreme southeast Texas through the rest of the
afternoon into early this evening. Rain chances will diminish this
evening with the loss of diurnal heating but will return
Thursday...mainly afternoon into evening...as a weak cold front
moving southward across the southeast United States allows low to
mid level moisture to pool along and ahead of the front across
portions of southern Louisiana. A heat advisory will likely be
needed for the area again on Thursday as the combination of
hot temperatures and humid dewpoints will likely produce heat
index values of 108 degrees or higher for more than 2 hours Thurs
afternoon across most of southwest LA.

.LONG TERM (Friday through Wednesday): 500mb ridge across the
ARKLATEX region Friday will provide an increase in subsidence
across northern and eastern portions of Louisiana. This will
result in rain chances diminishing Friday into Saturday as low to
mid level moisture decreases across southern LA through the rest
of the week into the weekend. As the upper level ridge of high
pressure moves across the center of LA Saturday into
Sunday...subsidence will prevail through most of the weekend until
a 500mb shortwave trough across the southern plains Sunday moves
eastward across the lower Mississippi River valley Monday. This
will allow rain chances to increase early next week.
Otherwise...isolated seabreeze convection will prevail across
southern LA/southeast TX through the weekend. The rest of the
forecast period will depend on a 500mb low developing across
Louisiana Mon night into Tuesday. At the very least...a weakness
in the upper level ridge will persist across southern LA and this
will warrant at least a chance of showers and thunderstorms
through Wednesday as another weak cold front moves into the
southeast United States towards the end of the forecast period.

.MARINE (Now through Thursday night)...Seas were near 2 feet with
southwest winds near 15 knots at buoy035 at 3:40 pm this
afternoon. Light south to southwest winds will prevail across the
coastal waters tonight as surface high pressure builds across the
eastern United States behind a weak cold front approaching the
northern Gulf of Mexico coastline late tonight. This boundary will
allow showers and thunderstorms to develop across the coastal
waters tonight through Thurs night as the front reaches the
northern Gulf coast late Thurs night. Winds will be light and
variable across the coastal waters Thursday into Thurs night as
the pressure gradient remains weak across southeast Texas and
southwest Louisiana. &&

northwestern Evangeline, northeastern Beauregard, southeastern Vernon
and northeastern Allen Parishes through 515 PM CDT...

At 433 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles east of Fort Polk to Fullerton to NEAR
Glenmora. Movement was southwest at 5 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Oakdale, Glenmora, Elizabeth, Pitkin, Fort Polk, Fullerton, Cravens,

through 545 PM CDT...

At 456 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm NEAR
Leesville, moving southwest at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.
