.DISCUSSION...
With a cold front in our vicinity, we had a band of thunderstorms
pop up suddenly and cause some flash flooding and small hail in
the Lake Charles area. This activity will weaken as we get closer
to sunset, but in the meantime outflow boundaries are expanding
towards southeast Texas and central Louisiana, so there could be
more flash flood warnings in those regions if the boundaries cause
more storms to develop.

We should stay dry Sunday through Tuesday, so good weather for
outdoor activities for Memorial Day, as the cold front is pushed
out in the Gulf by high pressure to our north. By Wednesday, the
high shifts further east, which will return us to a more typical
summer pattern of daily scattered showers and thunderstorms. This
will extend through the end of the week into next weekend.

As for temperatures, a little cooler than normal in store for
tonight and maybe Sunday night, before the warming trend for
nighttime lows through the rest of next week. High temperatures
will be influenced by the weather of the day. Early next week
with no rain, highs will be in the upper 80s, near 90. Wednesday
on it will likely drop to the mid 80s.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Louisiana, south
central Louisiana, southwest Louisiana, west central Louisiana and
southeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across
southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana today as a cold front moves
into the area. The probability of severe thunderstorms is low.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

Shower and thunderstorm chances will increase by Tuesday, with higher
then normal rain chances expected through the remainder of the week.

At this time, the risk of widespread hazardous weather is very low.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Gulf of Mexico and the
coastal lakes and bays of the Gulf of Mexico.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible today. The
storms will be accompanied by locally higher winds and seas, along
with possible brief heavy rains lowering visibilities. The risk of
severe thunderstorms is very low.

Showers and storms are expected to end by early this evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible from Tuesday
through Friday. Storms may be accompanied by locally higher winds
and seas, along with possible brief heavy rains lowering
visibilities.

Otherwise, the risk of widespread hazardous weather is very low.

215 PM CDT...

At 141 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge to 8
miles south of Lowry. Movement was southeast at 15 mph.

Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Klondike, Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge and Lowry.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.

UNTIL 215 PM CDT...

At 144 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles northwest of Pecan Island. This storm was nearly stationary.

Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
this storm.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of west central
Vermilion Parish.

miles northwest of Pecan Island, moving south at 10 mph.

Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Pecan Island.
