.Flooding is expected to begin shortly along Wildcat Creek near
Jerome later tonight and then later this week along the Wabash near
Riverton as a result of 1-3 inches of rain that fell across the area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late
this evening to a crest of 9.7 feet late tonight. It will then
fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Flooding in progress along Wildcat Creek in
eastern Howard County. Water possibly two feet deep on CR 174 S
just west of Jerome Bridge on CR 1030 E. Canoe area at SR 213 and

* From Tuesday evening to Tuesday, May 18.
* At 7:00 PM CDT Sunday /8:00 PM EDT Sunday/ the stage was 7.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage Tuesday
evening to a crest of 17.6 feet Sunday morning. It will then fall
below flood stage Tuesday, May 18.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet, Extensive lowland flooding is in progress.
High water surrounds many river cabins. Access to most river
cabins is by boat only. Levees begin to protect farmland.
Extensive flooding of Leaverton Park occurs in Palestine, Illinois.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following streams in
Indiana...
Tippecanoe River near Delphi, Wildcat Creek near Jerome and near
Lafayette, Wabash River from Lafayette to Riverton.
...Forecast flooding changed to Moderate severity and increased in
duration for the following rivers in Indiana...
Mississinewa River near Ridgeville and the Wabash River near
Lafayette.
.Widespread flooding along the Wabash river basin has either begun
or will begin over the next couple of days as a result of 2-3 inches
across the upper portions of the basin, and around an inch in the
lower portions of the basin. These higher rain amounts have led to
localized moderate flooding along the Mississinewa River near
Ridgeville and will lead to brief moderate flooding along the Wabash
River near Lafayette. Flooding along the Tippecanoe, Wildcat, and
Mississinewa will be brief and should come to an end by Tuesday.
Flooding along the Wabash will likely persist through much of the
week and possibly into next week. Little to no rain is expected for
much of the week which will limit further possible flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 10:30 AM EDT Monday was 15.8 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 18.0 feet just after midnight
tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late Thursday morning
to 10.1 feet and begin rising again Thursday evening. It will rise
to 10.5 feet early Friday afternoon. It will then fall again and
remain below flood stage.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet, Extensive flooding covers many acres of
agricultural land. State Road 225 closed by high water. Granville
Bridge Public Access Site flooded. Tippecanoe CR 950 W south of CR
75 S floods in several places from the Wabash Bottoms, Janssen
Tract to Warren CR 350 N in the Black Rock Preserve Area, a
distance of nearly 1.5 miles. High water affects Fort Ouiatenon
area. All parks in the West Lafayette and Lafayette areas are
flooded. High water almost on North River Road.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive

Wildcat Creek near Lafayette affecting Tippecanoe County.
.Rainfall over the weekend has caused widespread flooding along the
Wabash River. Minor flooding is expected to continue for most sites
through the week. Crests will begin to occur over the next few days
given mostly dry conditions through Friday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local radio,
television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

Illinois...
Wabash River at Riverton, Hutsonville, Terre Haute, Covington, and
Montezuma.
.Rainfall over the weekend caused widespread minor flooding along
the Wabash River. Minor flooding is expected to continue for most
sites through the week. The crest of the Wabash Friday evening was
near Terre Haute, and is expected to reach Riverton later this
weekend.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

.Minor flooding remains on the Wabash River in western Indiana in
the Riverton and Hutsonville areas. As of late Sunday afternoon the
river was at or very near crest at both locations, 1 to 2 feet above
flood stage. Stage height is expected to change little the rest of
today and overnight, then fall through the day Monday and Monday
night, allowing flood warnings to be most likely cancelled by
Tuesday morning based on present river forecasts. Rainfall by
Tuesday morning of 1 to 2 inches in western Indiana currently is
predicted to only cause minor fluctuations of the river that will
not prolong or recur flooding. Stay abreast of later updates to the
river forecasts for possible changes to these expectations.

* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage just
after midnight tonight and continue falling to 6.1 feet Saturday,
May 29.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet, Some agricultural lands underwater. A few
rural roads in Crawford County, Illinois close as water backs up
Minnow Slough. High water affects campground at Leaverton Park in
Palestine. A few private roads near the Gill Township levee in
Sullivan County may flood. Water level is at the top of most
makeshift levees.
