Flood Warning for the following streams in Indiana...Illinois...

  Wildcat Creek near Jerome and the Wabash River near Riverton.

.Flooding is expected to begin shortly along Wildcat Creek near 
Jerome later tonight and then later this week along the Wabash near 
Riverton as a result of 1-3 inches of rain that fell across the area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

* At 8:15 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 8.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late 
  this evening to a crest of 9.7 feet late tonight. It will then 
  fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Flooding in progress along Wildcat Creek in 
  eastern Howard County.  Water possibly two feet deep on CR 174 S 
  just west of Jerome Bridge on CR 1030 E.  Canoe area at SR 213 and 
  nearby park flooded.

* From Tuesday evening to Tuesday, May 18.
* At 7:00 PM CDT Sunday /8:00 PM EDT Sunday/ the stage was 7.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage Tuesday 
  evening to a crest of 17.6 feet Sunday morning. It will then fall 
  below flood stage Tuesday, May 18.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet, Extensive lowland flooding is in progress.  
  High water surrounds many river cabins.  Access to most river 
  cabins is by boat only.  Levees begin to protect farmland.  
  Extensive flooding of Leaverton Park occurs in Palestine, Illinois.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following streams in 
Indiana...

  Tippecanoe River near Delphi, Wildcat Creek near Jerome and near 
  Lafayette, Wabash River from Lafayette to Riverton.

...Forecast flooding changed to Moderate severity and increased in 
duration for the following rivers in Indiana...

  Mississinewa River near Ridgeville and the Wabash River near 
  Lafayette.


.Widespread flooding along the Wabash river basin has either begun 
or will begin over the next couple of days as a result of 2-3 inches 
across the upper portions of the basin, and around an inch in the 
lower portions of the basin.  These higher rain amounts have led to 
localized moderate flooding along the Mississinewa River near 
Ridgeville and will lead to brief moderate flooding along the Wabash 
River near Lafayette.  Flooding along the Tippecanoe, Wildcat, and 
Mississinewa will be brief and should come to an end by Tuesday.  
Flooding along the Wabash will likely persist through much of the 
week and possibly into next week.  Little to no rain is expected for 
much of the week which will limit further possible flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending 
  at 10:00 PM EDT Sunday was 14.1 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage 
  tomorrow afternoon and continue falling to 8.2 feet tomorrow 
  evening.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet, State Road 1 south of the intersection with 
  SR 28 in western Randolph County is impassable.  Extensive 
  agricultural flooding in progress.  At least a few county roads 
  flooded including West CR 825 east of SR 1 and West River Road 
  west of SR 1.

  Lake.  Sheet flowing water begins in the wetland project between
