South Central Ohio, Adams and Scioto will expire AT 4 AM EST early 
this morning.

With no additional heavy rainfall expected, the Flood Watch will be 
allowed to expire.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure retreats eastward today and is replaced by a
stationary front to our south. This front will provide a chance
for rain showers beginning late Friday afternoon and continuing
through Friday night. Additional breaks in the rainfall are
expected on Saturday before another wave of heavier rain moves
in Saturday night through Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Retreating surface high pressure will keep dry conditions on tap
this morning into the early afternoon as winds shift from the
east to the southeast. Meanwhile, aloft, flow will become more
moist and southerly. Guidance continues to depict light rain
increasing from south to north late this afternoon into the
evening due to weak isentropic lift and moisture convergence ahead
of a low amplitude shortwave trough. Highs today will reach the
mid to upper 40s.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SATURDAY/...
Scattered rain showers continue to track northward Friday night -
becoming less organized as they move well north of the
stationary front. The greatest PoPs are still aligned with
locations southeast of I-71 Friday night closer to the boundary.
Thermal profiles in bufkit continue to suggest that rain is the
dominant hydrometeor type as saturation remains well below the
DGZ, so left in rain (with no snow mixing in) even for our far
northern counties overnight - but still have lower PoPs in
these northern counties based on model trends. While subtle
instability does exist, did not include any mention of thunder
in the grids as the overall environment does not seem favorable
for convection to occur in our area.

The rain will linger across our east-southeastern counties
Saturday morning before a weak surface high builds in from the
southwest and forces it to taper off. Total QPF from this round
of rainfall looks to be capped around 0.1 - 0.2" for most
counties, but would not be surprised to see values closer to
0.3" in our N KY counties. All counties appear to remain dry
Saturday afternoon with a few breaks in the clouds possible -
especially west of I-71. As WAA becomes more amplified, trended
slightly higher with daytime highs on Saturday, with several
locations in our south likely observing temps in the lower 60s
once again.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
On Saturday evening, high pressure over the east coast will slowly
be moving eastward, as a deep-layer southwesterly flow pattern sets
up over the southeastern states and Ohio Valley. Upstream of the
region, a sharp mid-level trough over the northern plains will
sharpen further on Saturday night, with a surface low developing and
moving across the Great Lakes on Sunday. Far on the southeastern
periphery of this system, northward moisture transport from the Gulf
will be occurring, with strong theta-e advection through at least
700mb. The nose of a strengthening 850mb low level jet will point
into the Ohio Valley by 06Z early Sunday, acting as a focus for
efficient precipitation development. This entire setup is just south
of the potent upper jet, and there may also be some right entrance
region dynamics occurring. This is a pattern that continues to
support a swath of heavy rainfall somewhere in the area. While there
have been continued oscillations from run to run and model to model,
and still a bit of spread noted across the 00Z GEFS members,
confidence is starting to increase that some of this heavy rainfall
may impact the southern sections of the ILN forecast area.
Probabilities for up to 2 inches of rain appear to be greater than
50 percent along the southern ILN border. Of course, there are some
models (such as the operational 00Z NAM) painting the swath a little
further north, and some GEFS members focusing further south.
However, there is enough evidence to support at least some lower-end
flood threat for part of the area, and the HWO mention will be
expanded slightly from the previous issuance. The majority of the
rainfall will occur between 00Z and 18Z, with the heaviest rain
generally expected between 06Z and 15Z. As this system is still a
couple days away, some shifts in timing are possible. Instability
looks very limited, but with perhaps just enough for a slight chance
of thunder in the far southern ILN counties.

Temperatures were increased slightly from the model blend for
Saturday night into Sunday, and Sunday appears likely to be the
warmest day of the extended forecast, with highs in the mid 50s to
lower 60s. The aforementioned Great Lakes surface low will have a
cold front trailing it to the south, and this front is expected to
cross the ILN CWA at some point on Sunday afternoon into Sunday
evening. The front will likely help spark some additional showers
(possibly convective) and maybe some gusty winds as well. Somewhat
gusty winds are possible again on Monday with a strong temperature
gradient across the Great Lakes.

Behind the Sunday-Monday system, model agreement on the rest of the
extended forecast period is rather poor. For example, several
operational ECMWF runs suggest a weak system moving through the Ohio
Valley on Tuesday night, while several operational GFS runs suggest
the system will remain well to the south. However, some GEFS members
bring low-end precipitation chances through the area on Wednesday
night into Thursday. PoPs will be kept no higher than 20-30 percent
through this period, with little in the way of confidence in any
particular timing or placement. Depending on temperatures, some snow
may mix in, but for the most part (with max temps in the 40s to
around 50) rain will be favored. Overall, slightly warmer
temperatures  (upper 40s to mid 50s) appear likely on Wednesday and
Thursday.

.AVIATION /18Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
VFR conditions will prevail to start the period. A disturbance
shifting east through the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys will bring
lowering ceilings and rain this evening through the night. Main
impact will occur late this evening, as increasing moisture in
the low levels likely drops cloud bases quickly through MVFR
into IFR range. Still have uncertainty on whether these
ceilings will stick around through Saturday morning as the
models illustrate. For now, went with consensus in the
guidance, showing only slow improvements to low MVFR range
around midday.

OUTLOOK... MVFR/IFR CIGs and VSBYs possible late Saturday night into
Sunday morning.
