  the Lumber River Near Lumberton.
* Until Saturday evening.
* At 10:00 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 13.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage 
  Saturday morning and continue falling to 12.0 feet Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet, Low land flooding will occur along the 
  river. The flood waters may affect some residential property as 
  water backs up into the drainage ditches in the city.

.SYNOPSIS...
Cool wedge of high pressure will continue to dominate the
weather through early next week as low pressure lingers offshore.
This low will lift off to the northeast by midweek as a warm
front lifts north through the Carolinas. A cold front will
follow late Thursday into Friday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Lagging 5H trof across the Carolinas progged to close off or even
cutoff underneath a larger scale ridge aloft this aftn thru Sun.
The 7H closed low will generally be just further south which will be
able to provide moist onshore easterly flow across the FA. Models
indicate the deeper moisture will generally run along the immediate
Carolina Coasts and extend inland across portions of the ILM NC and
SC CWA. Will therefore trend sky cover in reference to the
aforementioned atm column moisture distribution. As for rain
chances, mainly in the form of stratiform patchy light rain given
the modest/strong wedge set up at the lower levels and the weak
overrunning/isentropic lift occurrence tonight into Sun. The sfc pg
will remain well tightened across the FA, especially along the
immediate coasts and the adjacent coastal waters thruout this
period. The end result, blustery conditions occurring across the
entire ILM CWA, with winds generally hier along the Carolina Coasts.
Will see continued wind gusts 20 to 30+ mph, hiest again along the
immediate coast.

Temperatures will run 10 to 15 degrees below normal this period.
Have generally stayed below guidance for temps thruout this period.
If enough Spring Equinox insolation makes it to the sfc both days
due to less cloud cover then anticipated, then max temps will need
to be revised upwards.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
High pressure will continue to extend down through the Carolinas
from the north into early next week as low pressure lifts off
to the northeast Sun night into Mon. This will brush mainly the
coastal areas with some rain, but the bulk of the rain will
remain offshore. Stiff northerly winds, clouds and increasing
low level moisture will keep overnight lows above normal. High
temps on Mon will warm toward normal in weak WAA as ridge builds
over the region. Should see increasing sunshine through the
aftn on Mon as low lifts away from area.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Wedge of high pressure continues to extend down into the
Carolinas into midweek, but mid to upper level ridge will shift
farther off the coast as next system approaches from the west.
The persistent northerly flow and shallow cool air and moisture
will give way to deeper layer moisture and warming into midweek
as wedge breaks as warm front lifts north. Winds will shift
around to the south, and deeper SW flow will transport mid to
upper level moisture into the area as trough aloft migrates
eastward across the central CONUS. Should see more mid to high
clouds across the area and increasing potential for shwrs,
especially as cold front approaches Thurs into Thurs night.
Strengthening winds and increasing instability will lead to some
thunderstorms ahead of cold front on Thurs. This cold front
should sweep off the coast early Fri with increasing sunshine.
Temps will warm through the week, especially as deep southerly
flow develops Wed into Thurs. Temps will be into the 70s through
midweek, but may see some places reach near 80 on Thurs.

.AVIATION /12Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Cold front stalled offshore will maintain mid-level VFR cloud
cover while and strong pressure gradient brings breezy winds
throughout the period. Expect NE winds 10-15 knots inland, 15-20
knots along the coast. Unidirectional flow in the boundary
layer will promote gusts to 20-30 knots, highest near the coast.
Low-level moisture attempts to works its way into the area
overnight, possibly translating into IFR/MVFR stratus and a few
patchy light showers by Sunday morning.

Extended Outlook...Breezy and gusty NE winds to continue
through the weekend into early next. MVFR threat for the
coastal terminals due to periodic ceilings and/or the threat
for light rain Sun into early next week.

.MARINE...
Through Sunday...Gale Warning to remain in effect across all
waters, with the main Gale conditions advertised will be gusts
35+ kt through tonight. Borderline Gales for Sun and will punt
to the day shift to determine whether to continue Gales or not.

Wedge of high pressure already in place and will remain an eye sore
thru Sun. As a result, a well tightened sfc pg to remain in place
for the near term duration. Combined with CAA today into tonight
prior to becoming neutral, Gale force NE wind gusts will continue to
be a mainstay. Compound that with the threat for light rain, mainly
tonight thru Sun. Seas will continue to build, peaking in the 6 to
10 foot range, locally hier across the outer waters off Cape Fear
and South Santee River respectively. The hier seas overall will
remain 10-20 nm out with a trajectory of nearly parallel to the
coastline thru tonight. But with time, ie. during Sun, wave
directions will become more ENE oriented, allowing the hier seas to
venture closer to the immediate coast. In addition, given the
extensive/expansive NE fetch and time-line, dominant periods will
also increase from 6 to 8 seconds to 8 to possibly 10 second periods.

Sunday night through Wednesday...Pinched gradient with stiff
northerly winds will continue through Sun night into early Mon
between high pressure extending down from the north over inland
Carolinas and low pressure offshore. As the low lifts off to the
northeast on Mon, winds will diminish as gradient relaxes. This
will allow winds to diminish from near 25 kts Sun night down to
15 to 20 kts by Mon night and 15 kts or less by Tues. In
response, seas will subside from near 6 to 9 ft Sun night down
to 3 to 6 ft by Tues. A warm front will lift north Wed into
Thurs with winds coming around to the E-SE through Wed and
eventually SE-S by Wed night. This southerly push will
eventually drive seas up again by Thurs. Overall, SCA conditions
will persist with a short break heading into midweek before they
rise again in increasing southerly winds on Thurs.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Although, not expecting high tides to eclipse minor coastal flood
thresholds, the modest to strong NE winds for the next few days will
produce surf that may be conducive for slight beach erosion due to
wave run-up. The East facing beaches will be the most prone
locations for this type of erosion. Will need to monitor the
possibility of high surf affecting local beaches.

This will depend on wave directions which currently are more
parallel to the Carolina Coastlines but may veer slightly to the
ENE. This would enable the hier wave energy and waveheights to reach
the immediate coast, with the east facing beaches more
susceptible.
