This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

Late afternoon through early evening heat indices of 100 to 105
degrees are expected, mainly across southern Kansas.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms will gradually increase this
evening and tonight, mainly for locations west of the Kansas
Turnpike. A few strong to marginally severe storms are possible late
this afternoon and evening, capable of dime to quarter size hail
and 50 to 60 mph winds. A tornado cannot be ruled out along
Interstate 70 late this afternoon. Pockets of heavy rainfall and
localized flooding will be a threat as well.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Afternoon through early evening heat indices will be around 100
degrees Friday, mainly across southern Kansas.

Periodic showers and thunderstorms will continue to impact the
region for Friday through Saturday night. A few strong to
marginally severe storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening,
capable of dime to quarter size hail and 50 to 60 mph winds. Pockets
of heavy rainfall and localized flooding will be a threat as well.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed across central Kansas late this
afternoon into this evening.

...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of eastern Reno,
northwest Sedgwick, Harvey and northeastern Kingman Counties through
900 PM CDT...

At 813 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Buhler to near Mount Hope to 7 miles
southwest of Cheney. Movement was east-northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Wichita, Newton, Park City, Valley Center, Goddard, Hesston, Maize,
Cheney, Halstead, North Newton, Sedgwick, Colwich, Buhler, Burrton,
Garden Plain, Mount Hope, Andale, Bentley, Walton and West Wichita.

This includes Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 13 and 41.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
