this morning to a crest of 30.4 feet this evening. It will then
fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.

* At 3:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 11.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late
this evening to a crest of 22.8 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It
will then fall below flood stage Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 23.0 feet, Flood waters spread over fields to a
distance of 1 and one fourth miles. Several county roads, mainly
along the left bank are inundated. Several residents which live
along the right bank in the vicinity of Highway 400 may experience
water entering their homes at basement levels.

* At 11:10 AM CDT Friday the stage was 18.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.9 feet
tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage Sunday
morning.
* Impact...At 21.0 feet, Xavier Road leading north from the river
gage bridge floods in that immediate vicinity. Also 13000 Road
along the north side of the river bank floods. West of the town of
Faulkner, homes along 120th Street between Star Road and Clem Road
begin to flood.

* Impact...At 17.0 feet, The left bank begins to overflow and floods
agricultural fields. Also the dirt county road, 13000 Road, along
the north side of the river bank starts to flood at 1.5 miles
downstream of gage site where the bridge crosses Lightning Creek.

Meanwhile, current satellite water vapor imagery shows upper level wave over eastern Colorado. This system will lift slowly northeast today, which will cause an increase of low level moisture transport for late this morning through the early evening hours affecting mainly southeast Kansas. This looks to yield another round of showers/storms with locally heavy rainfall possible. See Hydro section down below for more details. Shower/storm chances look to remain over southeast Kansas for Friday. Heading into Saturday the upper trough axis looks to shift slightly westward with central/south central Kansas being the main target area for more showers/storms. .LONG TERM...(Sunday through Wednesday) Issued at 227 AM CDT Thu May 20 2021 Models continue to show upper level low pressure ejecting from the southwestern states northeast across the Rockies into the northern plains for Sunday into Monday. The main threat will be minor lowland flooding. There is a slight chance for thunderstorms after midnight across much of southern Kansas. However, the main threat will remain heavy rainfall or a locally strong storm. Severe weather is not anticipated. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday There will be periodic chances of thunderstorms through next Tuesday. The better chances at this point appear to be on Thursday afternoon in southeast Kansas and Tuesday area wide. The main threat throughout the period will be localized flooding from storms producing very heavy rain. Isolated strong storms are possible, but the risk of organized severe weather appears to be low at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
