Flood Warning for the following rivers in Texas...
San Bernard River Near East Bernard affecting Wharton, Fort Bend,
Austin and Colorado Counties.
For the San Bernard River...including Sweeny, East Bernard, Boling...
Major flooding is forecast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Persons with interests along these streams should keep alert to
rising water and take all precautions to protect their property. Do
not drive or walk into flooded areas the depth and water velocity
could be too great for you to cross safely. Motorists should avoid
any water covered roads and find an alternate route. Livestock and
equipment should be removed from the flood plain immediately. Stay
tuned to NOAA Weather radio or other news sources for further
updates.

* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 4:00 AM CDT Thursday was 17.2 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 19.9 feet tomorrow morning. It
will then fall to 17.5 feet Sunday.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Minor lowland flooding begins in the
vicinity of the gage with minor roads along the river inundated.
Backwater flooding up Britt Branch and Bratcher Slough begins.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.9

significant backwater up Thomas Lake floods the lowest areas in
the Green Rich Shore Subdivision in Walker County with the boat
ramp completely inundated. The lowest lying areas in the Deep
River Plantation Subdivision and FM 980 northwest of Riverside are
threatened.

* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 11:15 AM CDT Thursday was 27.6 feet.
* Forecast...The river will fall to 23.4 feet and begin rising again
early Saturday. It will rise to 31.3 feet early Sunday afternoon.
It will then fall again but remain above flood stage.
* Impact...At 32.0 feet, major lowland flooding occurs upstream from
gage with significant backwater flooding up Peach and West Bernard
Creeks in Wharton County and Snake Creek in Fort Bend County. Low
lying areas in the El Lobo subdivision in Wharton County and
Tierra Grande subdivision in Fort Bend County are inundated.

at 11:15 AM CDT Thursday was 27.4 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.9 feet
just after midnight tonight and then slowly fall to around 26.2
feet by Friday afternoon. Any additional rainfall over the next
several days could produce new rises or longer duration flooding.
* Impact...At 27.0 feet, moderate lowland flooding begins as roads
into several outlying communities above Liberty are closed with
residents in 5 or 6 subdivisions cut off if not evacuated.

The Flood Warning continues for
the San Bernard River near Boling.
* Until Wednesday morning.
* At 6:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 23.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 6:15 AM CDT Saturday was 23.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 26.7 feet
tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Tuesday
evening.
* Impact...At 27.0 feet, There is widespread moderate lowland
flooding upstream from the gage with significant backwater
flooding up West Bernard Creek and Peach Creek in Wharton County
and low lying areas in the El Lobo subdivision are threatened.
Backwater flooding up Snake Creek in Fort Bend County threatens
low areas in the Tierra Grande subdivision.

* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 6:15 AM CDT Saturday was 28.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 28.4 feet
early Monday afternoon.
* Impact...At 29.0 feet, Major lowland flooding begins as homes in
several subdivisions above Liberty begin flooding. Extensive
flooding over much of Liberty County can be expected with each
incremental rise in the river.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 28.4
feet on 02/11/1992.

.SHORT TERM [Today through Friday]...
Deepest moisture axis and associated shower and thunderstorm activity
has moved well off to our east early this morning. Some of the latest
available high resolution models only show isolated to widely scattered
activity developing inland today with a more concentrated set of storms
organizing late in the afternoon across our offshore coastal waters.
Generally expected trend is for faster moving and a more widely scattered
to scattered coverage to increase beginning this evening or tomorrow
night and expand inland on Friday. With two day rainfall totals expected
to generally stay well under two inches for much of the area, and with
most of it expected to occur in a tonight through Friday time period,
have trimmed our Flash Flood Watch to include only our far eastern counties
(Chambers/Liberty/Polk) to match up best with adjacent forecast offices.

.LONG TERM [Friday Night through Thursday]...
S-SE flow will continue to enhance low level moisture transport
across SE Texas during the next several days, maintaining periods of
showers and thunderstorms throughout the long term period. Starting
with Friday night, the flow will help bring some of the moisture
focused over LA previously that day into the eastern portions of the
CWA. Associated PWs look to range between 2.0-2.2 inches. With drier
conditions over the western sectors of the CWA, expect the higher
rain chances to occur over portions east of I-45. The moisture will
propagate westward into SE Texas Saturday, while surface high
pressure builds and expands over SE CONUS. Increased chance in
showers and thunderstorms is forecast for Saturday, with PoPs
currently in the 50-70% range for most of the region by Saturday
afternoon. Moisture axis eventually moves further into Central TX
late Saturday into Sunday but pulses of moisture move in and out of
our CWA through at least mid week. Chance of rain decreases a bit
Monday and Tuesday, but increases Wednesday as a weak upper level
shortwave moves through the region.
Maximum temperatures will generally be in the low 80s through early
next week, increasing into the mid to upper 80s mid week. Lows will
be in the upper 60s for the northern sectors of the CWA and in the
70s along the central and southern sectors through early next week.

.MARINE...
Advisories will continue through early this morning for the offshore
Gulf waters and be replaced by Cautions. Cautions for the Gulf
waters and risk for strong rip currents along the gulf facing
beaches are expected to remain through the weekend. Water levels
will also remain above normal during the next few days and could
result in minor coastal flooding during high tide. Periods of
showers and thunderstorms are expected during the next several days.
