...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN DANIELS AND
NORTHEASTERN VALLEY COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However small hail, gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

.DISCUSSION...
An upper low over central Montana is helping to develop cumulus
clouds across the CWA this afternoon. Most of these will be garden
variety (not severe) but some could bring brief gusts to 40 mph or
so through the early evening. Look for them to diminish later
this evening as the upper low drifts to our southeast.

Saturday, the absence of the upper low will allow the upper high
over the Desert SW to build across Montana. This will allow temps
to warm into the 80s and 90s. This warming trend will continue
into Sunday with highs in the 90s to around 100. With near
critical excessive heat expected, an Excessive Heat Watch was
issued. Heat Advisories and/or Warnings look likely according to
the WR NWS HeatRisk map/guidance for Sunday.

The upper ridge begins to break down Sunday allowing for slight
chances of thunderstorms late in the day.

Another upper low moves in about Tuesday allowing for another
slight chance of thunderstorms, but it mainly looks to affect
southern Montana at this point.

Temps Monday through Wednesday look to lower closer to climate
normals but then should jump back up later in the week as the
disturbance moves out and the Desert SW upper ridge rebounds. TFJ

Synopsis: Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening may
be associated with reduced ceilings and visibilities if one should
track over a taf site.

Winds: North through this afternoon at 10 to 15 kts. Gusty and
shifting winds are possible near any storms. Winds will become

...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTHWESTERN DANIELS AND
NORTHEASTERN VALLEY COUNTIES UNTIL 430 PM MDT...

At 351 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles north of Peerless to 7 miles west of
Richland to 11 miles southwest of Opheim. Movement was south at 20
mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Opheim, Richland, Peerless, West Fork, Baylor and Glentana.
