.PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 305 AM EDT Thu Jul 15 2021/

SHORT TERM /Today through Friday/...

Some patchy fog this morning again will gradually burn off by mid
morning as the sun comes up and winds out of the SSW pick up to
around 5 kts. From there it will be a pleasant day with highs in the
mid 80s and low 90s. Afternoon thunderstorms, diurnally driven, will
be patchy throughout the CWA.

A high pressure system off the Atlantic coast shows little signs of
moving anytime soon. As a result, tomorrow will be similar as the
weather across the southeast is stuck in a repeating pattern. Highs
in the 80s and low 90s with another afternoon of diurnal
thunderstorms will be likely with calm southerly winds.

LONG TERM /Friday Night through Wednesday/...

The long term forecast still remains fairly unchanged with mainly
diurnally driven pops through the remainder of the week and weekend.
The synoptic pattern to begin the long term period includes the
Bermuda high to our east with an approaching trough to the west. At
the surface models show a front beginning to approach the CWA,
but the front is forecast to stall somewhere just north of the
area over the weekend. With the stalled front in the vicinity and
PWATS increasing to around 2 inches, chances for showers and
thunderstorms will be expected across the area with the highest
chances across portions of northern Georgia. The front is
forecast to slowly sink into the area and wash out by the middle
of next week, continuing chances for showers and thunderstorms.
As with any typical summer day, a strong or isolated severe storm
will be possible with the main hazards being periods of heavy rain
and gusty winds.

High temperatures through the beginning of the extended forecast are
forecast to be in the 80s and 90s with overnight lows in the 60s and
70s, just around seasonal norms. With the increased chances for
rainfall early next week, high temperatures are forecast to
remain in the 80s, about 5 to 10 degrees below average.

12Z Update...
Patchy fog, primarily across south central Georgia, will continue to
burn off this morning. TEMPO for FG in Macon will remain in place
until 13Z when VIS should lift out of LIFR. VFR conditions will
prevail for the rest of the morning until afternoon thunderstorms
begin to fill in starting around 17Z for the ATL sites.

rainfall are possible this afternoon and evening across north and
central Georgia. Gusty winds and frequent lightning will also be
possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday...

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms capable of producing locally
heavy rainfall are possible across north and central Georgia
through Tuesday, mainly in the afternoon and evening. A few storms
could become strong with gusty winds and frequent lightning.

...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR TALBOT COUNTY UNTIL 130 PM EDT...

At 107 PM EDT...a strong thunderstorm was over Olive Branch, or over
Talbotton...moving southeast at 5 mph.

  HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind...frequent cloud to ground lightning
           and heavy rain.

  IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
           light...unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
           street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Some locations in the path of this storm include
Talbotton, Junction City, Geneva, Baldwinville, Baughville, Olive
Branch and Po Biddy Crossroads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder...you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists

MUSCOGEE COUNTIES UNTIL 315 PM EDT...

At 229 PM EDT...a line of strong thunderstorms extended from near
Hamilton to Cataula to Flat Rock, moving northeast at 10 mph.

  HAZARD...Winds up to 40 mph, up to penny sized hail, frequent
           lightning and heavy rain.

  IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
           light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
           street flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.

Some locations in the path of these storms include
Hamilton, Pine Mountain, Waverly Hall, Ellerslie, Flat Rock, F.D.
Roosevelt State Park, Midland and Cataula.
