Key Messages...

- Showers and thunderstorms will persist across portions of the
  region through the early morning hours. The overall severe
  concern has decreased considerably.

- A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday
  Afternoon. Primarily across north into west central and central
  Missouri. Damaging wind gusts are the greatest concern with any
  convection that develops at this time.

- Hot and humid conditions will continue into early this week.
  Monday will be the hottest, with heat index values between 100
  to 105 F across much of the region. Overnight lows will also
  remain in the mid to upper 70s from this morning through Tuesday
  morning.

Detailed Discussion...

Enhancement due to the low level jet intersecting the outflow from a
cluster of storms moving east out of southeast Nebraska into
northwestern Missouri late Saturday night resulted in a window of
vigorous convective updrafts. This cluster had a history of
producing isolated strong to damaging wind gusts. Through 1 AM, with
the shift of the outflow and surface trough eastward and decreasing
instability, strong to severe wind concerns have ended. Isolated
thunder and breezy conditions remain possible through the early
morning.

Farther south along the surface trough, convection ongoing across
eastern Kansas maintained a steady state, gradually decreasing,
while continuing to move toward and across the MO/KS border. From
current conditions and latest short range solutions, scattered
thunder and showers will continue to linger through the early
morning as they slowly advance eastward. Overall, lack of focused
forcing and instability should result in a continued downward trend
as it moves eastward.

Sunday, some isolated lingering convection is probably going to hang
on through daybreak across north central Missouri, perhaps as far
west as west central MO/eastern KS depending on the orientation of
the surface trough across the region. Overall, even with influence
from convective debris in the morning, we should anticipate a
recovery period, with support from the upper trough still
residing over the region. Anticipate an axis of increasing
instability developing across the region with ample mid-layer
flow. CAMs are in decent enough agreement to suggest convective
initiation along the boundary around mid-afternoon, likely just
east of the KC Metro and northeast. Primary concerns will be
strong to damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and pockets of
isolated downpours with the strongest storms. Activity will shift
east and decrease through the late evening hours.

Monday is still looking to be the hottest day of the week. Modest
brief ridging will set up across the plains, with a sufficient
thermal ridge developing off the southern High Plains into the Mid-
Missouri River Valley. Still anticipating afternoon highs pushing
the upper 90s and heat index values between 100 to 105 F. Tuesday
will be hot and humid, but an open short wave will introduce a
chance for showers and thunderstorms, this may keep heat index

lock in on the details.

Precipitation chances continue into Wednesday, with the remainder of
the week rather quiet, but remaining warm.

VFR conditions are still expected to continue through the
afternoon hours into the evening. There is still a slight change
for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms after 20Z through 00Z
for our terminals, with IXD having the better chance to see
isolated storms later in the evening. If any storms do affect our
terminals, main risks include gusting winds, frequent lightning,
and heavy rainfall. Quiet conditions and calming winds can be
expected by tonight.

This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

 A few storms are possible this morning, but overall this morning's
convection will diminish around sunrise. Another round of storms is
expected this afternoon and evening, along/east of I-35. Damaging
winds are the main concern but could also see some smaller hail.
Localized flash flooding is also possible and can't completely rule
out a tornado.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

 Hot and humid conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday. High
temperatures are forecast to be in the low to mid 90s with heat
indices between 100-110 degrees. There is some uncertainty we will
reach those values on Tuesday though due to storm chances and the
potential for increased cloud cover.
