.DISCUSSION...
Today through Sunday night...
Saturday will remain calm, dry and warm but those conditions will
be short lived as a strong cold front will push south on Sunday
afternoon. High temperatures Saturday will climb back towards
normal for the first time in a week. Enjoy the sunshine while you
can!
Sunday is where big changes occur. A strong cold front will move
south, passing over Billings around 3PM and Sheridan around 6PM.
Behind the front, rain will transition to snow at the lower
elevations. Unfortunately the areas that will see the least amount
of precipitation will be areas in northern Rosebud, Custer and
Fallon counties. Otherwise, most areas will see 0.25" to 0.9" with
the highest amounts in the foothills. The mountains could see
upwards of 1.2" of QPF. As for snow amounts, the foothills will
see 4 to 8 inches with 6 to 12 inches possible in the mountains
with the highest amounts on the north facing slopes. Because of
these amounts, Winter Storm Watches have been issued for these
areas. Outside of the foothills, the lower elevations will see 1
to 4 inches of snow mainly accumulating in the overnight hours.
Because of the warm temperatures ahead of the front on Sunday, any
snow will melt at first but as temperatures continue to cool
overnight, slick roads are possible, especially on bridges. This
could make Monday morning commute slick.
High temperatures on Saturday will be in the upper 50s to low
60s. High temperatures on Sunday will be ahead of the front, with
the coolest temperatures along the north side of our CWA ranging
from the low 40s to the low 50s.

.Monday through Friday...
Conditions will remain on the unsettled side through the extended
forecast period, but temperatures will trend warmer through the
week. Hudson Bay lobe of low pressure continues to slowly pivot
through the area on Monday with precipitation chances slowly
ending from north to south through the day. Canadian airmass will
hold temperatures in the 30s to lower 40s for highs. Northerly
flow will continue over the area Tuesday into Wednesday, but more
sun will bring a slow warm temperatures into the 50s by Wednesday.
Flow aloft backs to the west on Thursday with downslope helping
to push temperatures into the lower 60s by the afternoon. A quick
moving disturbance dropping southeast through the area Thursday
night into Friday will bring at least a chance for a few showers
to the area, and slightly cooler temperatures Friday. Chambers
