...A LAKE EFFECT SNOW BAND WILL AFFECT PARTS OF THE WESTERN
SOUTHERN TIER...
HAZARDS...A lake effect snow band which can rapidly reduce visibility
to less than a quarter of a mile. This lake effect snow band is
producing extremely heavy snow at the rate of 2 inches per hour.
This lake effect snow band is so intense that it is producing
lightning and thunder. The snow will accumulate very rapidly.
LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 424 PM EST, a lake effect snow band
extended from west to east across the northern halves of Chautauqua
and Cattaraugus counties. The band will meander slowly southward
through sunset.
LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
Fredonia, Salamanca, Westfield, Ashford, Franklinville, Mayville,
Long Point State Park, SUNY Fredonia, Ashford Hollow, Chautauqua
Institution, Lake Erie State Park, Chautauqua, Portland, Ripley,
Stockton, Great Valley, New Albion, Gerry, Dayton and Conewango.
