This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northern New York, central
Vermont, northeast Vermont, northwest Vermont and southern Vermont.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across much of northern
New York and Vermont this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts,
hail, very heavy downpours, and lightning will be the main threats
with any of the storms. Storms are expected to develop over the
Saint Lawrence Valley and northern Adirondacks of New York by early
this afternoon and move eastward across the remainder of northern
New York and Vermont during the late afternoon and evening hours. The
storms will exit to our south and east by midnight tonight.

...A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT SOUTHWESTERN FRANKLIN
AND ST. LAWRENCE COUNTIES...

At 758 AM EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near Redwood to near West Carthage to
Highmarket. Movement was northeast at 65 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Potsdam, Massena, Tupper Lake, Gouverneur, Canton, Ogdensburg,
Norfolk, Oswegatchie, Lisbon, Louisville, De Kalb, Fowler,
Parishville, Colton, Piercefield, Morley, Degrasse, Massena
International Airport - Richards Field, Carry Falls Reservoir and
Waddington.

At 1006 AM EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from 7 miles northwest of Mooers to near
Saranac to near Wilmington. Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Plattsburgh, Plattsburgh International Airport, Peru, Beekmantown,
Schuyler Falls, Chazy, Saranac, Mooers, Altona, Wilmington,
Champlain, Au Sable Forks, Grand Isle, South Alburgh, Alburgh, Jay
In Essex County, Alburgh Dunes State Park and North Hero.

If you are on or near Lake Champlain, get out of the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
