The National Weather Service in Norton has issued a
* Flood Warning for...
Central Hartford County in northern Connecticut...
* Until 245 AM EDT.
* At 845 PM EDT, gauge reports on the North Branch of the Park River
in Hartford as well as the Hockanum River in East Hartford are in
flood stage. This is due to runoff from excessive rain that fell
earlier today associated with Tropical Storm Henri. Both rivers
are near their crest and are expected to fall below flood stage
overnight tonight. Based on river stage levels, flooding is
already occurring in the warned area.
* For the Park River at Hartford, low-lying flooding is expected or
occurring along the Park River, with floodwater likely also on the
parking lot of the University of Hartford campus. For the Hockanum
River at East Hartford, portions of Burnside Ave experience
flooding with floodwaters backing up behind the Walnut Street
Bridge in East Hartford.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Vernon, Wethersfield and South Windsor.

.SYNOPSIS...
Henri continues to weaken rapidly near Hartford CT and will
continue to weaken as it moves farther inland. Weather concerns
this evening and overnight is mainly inland flooding but west of
New England in NY state. Then Monday, as the remnants of Henri
move back east into southern New England, renewed flooding is
possible along with a few strong to severe thunderstorms. Hot
and humid weather expected Tue through at least Thursday, along
with scattered showers or thunderstorms at times.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM MONDAY MORNING/...
7 PM update...
*** Tropical Storm Henri continues to weaken ***
Tropical Storm Henri is near Hartford, CT at 7 pm, and
continuing to weaken as it moves farther inland. Thus, Henri's
rain shield and heavy rain will be confined to western MA and
northwest CT this evening and overnight, with any flooding
likely confined to NY state. Otherwise, just expecting
scattered low top showers and drizzle as the dry slot
continues to overspread southern New England.
Tropical airmass with dew pts in the upper 60s and low 70s will
result in a very warm night ahead. Unfortunately not good for
those residents that have lost power.
Storm surge - SE winds late this afternoon will shift to the SSW
this evening. Model soundings support 20-30 mph gusts, so still
some onshore component. Tide gages indicate surge values have
decreased from about 2 ft earlier to around 1 ft currently.
Given pressure rises, surge values around 1 ft into this evening
along with lessening wave action, only expecting minor coastal
flooding both coasts with the evening high tide. Thus will
handle this with a coastal flood advisory for minor splash over
and inundation of a 1 ft or less. This is supported by all surge
guidance including the Stevens Institute storm surge ensembles.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
*** Possible renewed Flash Flooding & a few severe storms with
an isolated tornado possible ***
Remnants of Henri begin to advect eastward back across southern
New England. Modest synoptic scale lift with good cyclonic
curvature to the mid level flow, along with some enhancement via LFQ
of upper level jet streak. This combined with PWATs increasing
back to 2+ inches, scattered showers and storms will be capable
of producing tropical downpours. This combined with today's
heavy rainfall and areas of flash flooding, increasing the risk
for renewed flooding tomorrow across CT, western- central MA
possible into RI.
Then farther east into eastern MA, breaks of sunshine should
promote highs of 80-85 degs along with dew pts 70-75. This will
yield MLCAPES up to 1000 j/kg or so. Thus, modest instability
(long skinny CAPE) along with low LCLs. Modest low level shear
as well, with 0-1 km vector offering up to 30 kt of shear. This
shear and instability profile combined with remnants of Henri,
high dew pts/low LCLs may be sufficient for a few rotating
updrafts, with risk focused across eastern MA including the
Merrimack River Valley. For now, including gusty winds and heavy
rain into the forecast. Later shifts, if confidence increases
may want to insert stronger wording.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Highlights...
* Possible heat wave and potential for heat advisories Tuesday-
Thursday.
* Dry most of the week; shower/storm chances late Thursday into
Friday.
Did not spend much time on the extended today due to Henri
impacting the region. Main concerns for the upcoming week are in
the Tuesday-Thursday timeframe. There is the potential for a
heat wave during this timeframe and the airmass may be quite
muggy. Not out of the question that Heat Advisories will be
needed and this is especially a concern if any areas are still
without power from Henri.
Should cool down late in the week into the weekend after a
frontal passage. This will bring the next opportunity for
showers and perhaps a few isolated thunderstorms. Not looking
like a washout at this point in time.

heavy rain over CT and western MA slowly slides westward this
evening and overnight. This rain shield returns Monday from west
to east, accompanied by IFR/MVFR in period of heavy rain and
isolated to scattered TSRA.

Henri remains a weak tropical storm over northeast CT, but
should weaken to a depression this evening. SSE winds will
transition to SSW this evening at 20-30 kt. Rough seas continue
given large leftover southerly swells. For Monday, SSW winds
20-30 kt with a few thunderstorms possible which include
tropical downpours. Improving weather later Mon evening and
especially Mon night, as remnants of Henri exit offshore.
