High Impact Weather Potential: Low visibility and slick roads
expected early. Winds gust of 40+ mph into early evening.

Deformation axis on the backside of our departing surface low
pivots through northern Michigan by late afternoon, with snow
ending quickly from west- east. A touch of lake contribution to
the snow as well, evident on current radar with some returns off
of Lake Michigan. Winds will be quite strong and gusty through
early evening, with gusts over 40 mph likely. With temperatures
falling below freezing in many locations, slushy side roads and
parking lots will freeze up. So despite the snow ending, some
impact on roads may still occur. And the gusty winds will continue
to blow around any new snow that has fallen, creating areas of
lower visibility. The pressure gradient remains fairly tight
overnight as northern Michigan sits in the broad confluence
between lower pressure over southern Canada and high pressure over
the southeast states, with embedded short wave energy. Winds will
back to the southwest overnight but continue to gust over 20 mph
at times.

Lows generally in the 20s (some teens possible eastern upper). Skies
will become mainly clear.

High Impact Weather Potential...Minimal

Pattern/Synopsis...Current troughing over the Great Lakes will shift
offshore of New England by Sunday. Behind this system heights start
to rise with broad flat ridging taking control of the Gulf states.
Heights continue to rise through early week with a 120-140kt jet
pushing to our north. A wave off the B.C. coast strengthens and digs
into the west coast Tuesday, pumping up the eastern ridging even
more, to the point where we have +2 to 3 St. Dev 500mb heights over
the upper Great Lakes heading into the middle of the week.
Precipitation chances look quite minimal through early week.

Forecast/Details...A ~1028mb high in the Tennessee valley on Sunday
strengthens and shifts northeast Monday...keeping us in mild
southwesterly flow both days. Meanwhile a weak clipper treks
straight across central Ontario late Sunday with an associated front
washing out across Lake Superior. This system will be lacking any
decent forcing or moisture for our area, with possibly just some
increase in mid and high-level clouds. Ensemble and deterministic
guidance agrees that we stay dry Sunday through Tuesday with high
temperatures a few degrees on either side of 40.

High Impact Weather Potential...Record-breaking midweek warmth
and potentially strong winds.

Pattern Synopsis/Forecast...Energy in base of the west coast trough
ejects out over the four-corners region on Wednesday, spinning up
the next surface low in the lee of the Rockies which tracks into the
Upper Great Lakes late Wednesday into Thursday. Ahead of this system
we'll have rain moving into our region within the warm sector. The
Wednesday/early Thursday timeframe looks to bring very warm air into
the region...with the chance increasing for potentially record-
breaking highs on Wednesday and possibly Thursday. Bumped highs up a
bit, well into the 50's. Overnight lows, especially Wednesday night,
shouldn't drop off too much. This warm spell will be followed by a
much colder shot of air behind the system for late week into the
weekend with lake effect snow coming back into the picture.
