A secondary cold front crosses the area this evening. High
pressure builds into the area tonight through Saturday and
slides offshore late Saturday into early Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/...
As of 700 PM EDT Friday...

Secondary cold front crosses the area this evening with strong
NW winds continuing, especially near the coast tonight. Guidance
has trended upward with respect to PoPs across the NE this
evening so have bumped shower chances up for primarily the
Eastern Shore. Scattered to broken mid level cloud cover will
accompany the front but skies should become mostly clear across
the area after midnight. Winds will stay elevated tonight which
will keep temps from falling too far, overnight lows generally
in the low 40s with a few mid/upper 40s across the south. The
Red Flag Warning for NC was expired at 7 PM and the Warning for
NC will expire at 8 PM. Dew points will continue dropping

temps, RH values will only rebound to 45-50 percent overnight.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 345 PM EDT Friday...

High pressure builds near the region on Saturday with winds
continuing to decrease through the day. Mostly sunny with high temps
ranging from the upper 60s near the coast/Eastern Shore to the low
70s for inland locations. Continued clear Saturday night with high
pressure moving offshore, allowing winds to become SW across the
area. Low temperatures fall into the upper 40s and low 50s.

Temperatures warm quickly on Sunday with continued SW surface flow
and high pressure anchored off the SE coast. Continued dry but
clouds increase by late afternoon with high temps rising into the
low and mid 80s.

Chances for rain and thunderstorms begin to increase by Monday with
SW flow aloft and increasing low level moisture across the region.
Will show high-end chance to likely PoPs across the west by the
afternoon as low pressure strengthens well to the NW of the area.
Extra cloud cover and showers will keep temps in check somewhat with
upper 70s and low 80s forecast from NW to SE. Lingering chance of
showers after sunset Monday evening with overnight lows only falling
into the mid/upper 60s.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 345 PM EDT Friday...

Unsettled pattern will persist through mid week with multiple fast-
moving systems passing by to the north/northwest of the local area.
Tough to time the passage of individual disturbances in this
progressive pattern so will limit PoPs to aob 40% for this period.
Warming trend continues Tuesday with highs in the upper 80s and
perhaps low 90s away from the coast. More clouds and showers for
Wednesday will hold temps in the 80s. A cold front crosses the area
late Wednesday into Thursday which should allow temperatures and
rain chances to return closer to seasonal norms by late week. Highs
Thursday in the low 70s with lows overnight falling into the upper
40s and low 50s. Cool on Friday with highs only in the 60s in the
post-frontal airmass.

.AVIATION /05Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 115 AM EDT Saturday...

VFR/SKC conditions continue through the 06z TAF period. The
secondary cold front is now south of the terminals, with gusty
NW winds across the area (to 25-30 kts near the coast/15-20 kts
inland). Winds slowly diminish today, but gusts to 20-25 kts
will be possible near the coast through midday/early aftn. Wind
speeds diminish to 5-10 kts by late this aftn. Winds shift to
the W then SW late today-tonight as high pressure moves off the
coast.

Outlook...VFR/dry conditions are expected through the weekend.
Chances for mainly afternoon/evening showers/tstms arrive early
next week.

.MARINE...
As of 345 PM EDT Friday...

Gale Warning remains in effect for the Ches Bay, the northern
coastal waters, and all rivers through tonight. A SCA remains in
effect for the southern coastal waters and the Currituck Sound until
9 PM before a Gale Warning goes into effect for the rest of the
night. Have opted for a Gale Warning for the Currituck Sound
overnight due to increasing confidence in a period of 35 kt gusts.

Latest surface analysis depicts deepening sfc low pressure off the
coast of Maine with a trailing sfc cold front just south of the
local waters. A secondary cold front is roughly E/W oriented through
southern Pennsylvania and Ohio. This secondary cold front will drop
south over the local waters late this afternoon/early this evening,
enhancing winds through CAA with a more NW orientation of winds as
opposed to the WNW/NW winds this afternoon.

Winds are currently WNW 15-20 kt with gusts 25-30 kt over most local
waters with occasional gusts to 35 kt over the rivers. Winds ramp up
to 25-30 kt after 8 PM and to 30-35 kt after midnight with gusts to
40 kt. The northern coastal waters have the best chance at gusting
to 45 kt, but a brief period of an hour or two of gusts between 40-
45 kt in the upper Bay overnight will also be possible. Gale
conditions continue into early Sat morning. Winds then quickly ramp
down Saturday morning as the pressure gradient weakens with high
pressure building into the region.

Sub-SCA conditions are expected from Saturday afternoon through
early next week, although winds in the Bay may approach SCA level
briefly Saturday night and again Monday night. Seas 2-4 ft south/3-5
ft N will build to 5-7 ft overnight before subsiding below 5 ft by
late Saturday afternoon. 2-3 ft waves on the Ches Bay will build to
3-5 ft overnight before subsiding to around 2 ft by Saturday
afternoon. SCAs will likely need to replace Gale Warnings Saturday
morning through the afternoon for the elevated seas.
