High pressure returns tonight. Dry and warmer weather conditions
are expected for Tuesday and Wednesday. A mainly dry cold front
will cross the area Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Another low pressure system may impact the area by late in the
week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/...
As of 630 PM EST Monday...

High pressure builds in from the SW tonight behind a cold front
that's now offshore. Mainly clear with lows in the low to mid
30s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 340 PM EST Monday...

Dry wx and mild temps will prevail across the area Tue and Wed,
as high pressure builds across the Gulf Coast States then off
the Southeast Coast. Under a partly sunny to sunny sky, highs
on Tue will range from the mid to upper 50s over the eastern
shore, to the lower 60s elsewhere. Clear and cold Tue night with
lows ranging through the 30s. Under a mostly sunny sky, highs on
Wed will range from the upper 50s/near 60 over the eastern
shore, to the lower to mid 60s elsewhere.

A dry cold front will drop across the region Wed night, with
cooler high pressure building into and over the area for Thu.
Mostly clear to partly cloudy Wed night with lows in the upper
30s to mid 40s. Partly to mostly sunny Thu with highs mainly
ranging from the upper 40s to the mid 50s.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 355 PM EST Monday...

Cool high pressure will slide by north of the area to the New
England coast during Fri. At the same time, a couple of low
pressure areas combined with the development of a coastal trough
will lift nwrd from the Gulf coast and SE states. This will
result in the chance for pcpn moving into the area from the SW
Fri aftn into Fri evening. These systems and associated moisture
will produce chance for mainly rain (rain/snow mix possible NNW
counties Fri night into early Sat morning) Fri evening through
much of Sat. There may be a break in the pcpn chances Sat night
into early Sun morning, before better chances for rain later Sun
morning through Mon, as a warm front and another wave of low
pressure move into and across the region.

Highs will range from the mid 40s to near 50 Fri, lower 50s to
lower 60s Sat, through the 50s Sun, and in the mid 50s to lower
60s Mon. Lows will range from the upper 20s to mid 30s Thu
night, in the mid 30s to lower 40s Fri night, range through the
40s Sat night and Sun night.

.AVIATION /00Z TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 630 PM EST Monday...

Improving ceilings along with winds becoming WSW 10 kt or less
tonight. High pressure returns Tuesday with VFR conditions. WSW
winds will become gusty by late Tuesday morning into the
afternoon. Gusts of 25-30 kt expected.

OUTLOOK...High pressure and VFR conditions through Wednesday.
The next (mainly dry) cold front will cross the area Wed night
into Thu morning. The next opportunity for deteriorated flight
conditions won't come until late Friday or Saturday.

.MARINE...
As of 355 PM EST Monday...

Afternoon surface analysis shows a prefrontal trough and attendant
showers and shallow convection moving through the southern coastal
waters and approaching the Currituck Sound. Winds are southerly 20-
30 kt with gusts to 40-45 kt ahead of this feature but quickly
transition to west and southwesterly 10-15 kt behind the line. Waves
are 2-4 ft with seas 5-9 ft.

Conditions have rapidly improved in the wake of the shallow but
quite robust convective line. However, opted to extend all SCA
headlines in the Bay, lower James, and Currituck Sound until 7pm.
Offshore, headlines run until 7am but could be expired a few hours
early depending on how quickly seas subside in the lighter westerly
flow that is expected overnight. W/SW flow will strengthen tomorrow
afternoon but should stay around 15 kt in the Bay and 15-20 kt
offshore. One possible exception will be areas close to the coast
and especially the upper rivers where deep mixing over land due to
warmer temperatures will enhance wind gusts Tuesday. High pressure
builds over the SE coast for the midweek period with another (dry)
cold front crossing the region Thursday with sub-SCA N-NE flow in
its wake for Fri-Fri night, veering to the E-SE for Sat.
