.SYNOPSIS...
A weak cold front will pass through the area late tonight into
Saturday morning. High pressure will build across the region for the
remainder of the weekend before another cold front passes through
the area Sunday night. High pressure builds again across the area
for Monday and Tuesday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 220 PM EST Friday...

Generally a quiet evening and overnight period as the region will
remain in between the cold front just offshore and the stronger cold
front over the Ohio Valley and lower Great Lakes. Although this
front has fairly strong cold advection associated with it, the best
upward motion and moisture will remain to the west and north of the
area later tonight into Saturday. Latest guidance suggests that any
precipitation will stay out of the area late tonight into
Saturday morning. At worst, would just expect a few sprinkles or
light showers over the MD eastern shore. However, the main
impact from this front will be the cooler temps for the weekend.
Lows tonight will generally be in the 40s. Despite the CAA on
Saturday, the downslope winds combined with full sunshine on
Saturday should allow temps to rise into the the mid 50s across
the Piedmont to mid 60s close to the coast.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 220 PM EST Friday...

High pressure builds across the region for Saturday night into
Sunday. With clear skies and light winds, see no reason why most
areas away from the immediate coast will not see a freeze. Will
likely need additional freeze warnings where the frost/freeze
program continues. Another mostly dry cold front will move through
the area Sunday night into Monday morning. Once again, this front
will be moisture starved, but one cannot rule our a passing
shower across the MD eastern shore where they will be closest to
the better moisture. Monday will end up dry and slightly cooler
due to cold advection and NW winds behind the front. Highs
Sunday generally in the 50s to around 60 with 50s on Monday.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 220 PM EST Friday...

A cold front associated with a low pressure system to our north will
bring slight chance pops early Mon to the MD eastern shore. The rest
of the area should remain dry through mid-week as high pressure
prevails. An upper level trough lifts out of the region Tues as the
SFC high moves offshore and a ridge builds over the eastern CONUS
Wed-Thur. This will allow warmer temperatures Wed and Thurs. A cold
front will come through late in the week, but there is some
disagreement regarding precipitation associated with it. GFS
suggests it will be dry, while ECMWF and the Canadian suggest a
higher chance for precip. Slight Chance pops are currently
forecasted for Thurs night-Fri.

Highs will be in the low-mid 50s Mon/Tues, Mid-60s Wed/Thurs, and
back to the Mid-50s for Fri. Lows are expected in the upper 20s-mid
30s Tues morning, Upper 30s Wed morning, mid-upper 40s Thurs
morning, and upper 30s-mid 40s Fri morning.

.AVIATION /20Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 1240 PM EST Friday...

A cold front is currently moving offshore and skies are starting to
clear out behind it. Winds are generally westerly (SW at ORF) at 10-
15kt, and will shift to the SW by the end of the TAF period. Low
level moisture behind the front could lead to brief MVFR conditions
at ORF, ECG, and SBY over the next couple hours. Skies will mostly
clear out later this afternoon and evening. TAFs currently have MVFR
visibilities at SBY/ORF/PHF/ECG in the early morning hours, but
guidance is trending towards lower visbilities, so IFR
conditions cannot be ruled out.

Outlook...Prevailing VFR conditions are expected from Sat through
the weekend.

.MARINE...
As of 1200 PM EST Friday...

Extended the SCA for the mouth of the bay and coastal waters S
of Cape Charles until 21z/4 PM to account for lingering 4ft
waves and 4-6ft seas. Remainder of the marine forecast remains
on track.

Previous Discussion:

Low pressure is centered over the Upper Midwest early this
morning, with an associated cold front arcing across the northern
and eastern Great Lakes then southward into the central
Appalachians. A S wind of 15-25kt is developing ahead of this front
early this morning across most of the marine area, and 10-15kt in
the upper rivers. There is no CAA expected behind this front, so the
wind is expected to shift to W and diminish to less than 15kt behind
the boundary. Seas are expected to build to 4-5ft S, and 5-6ft N (up
to 7ft out near 20nm off the MD coast) this morning, and then slowly
subside by this afternoon. SCA flags remain in effect for the
Chesapeake Bay, lower James, and Currituck Sound this morning, and
through this afternoon for the ocean.

Weak high pressure passes across the area tonight, then slides
offshore later tonight into Saturday allowing the wind to become SW
10-15kt, and 15-20kt for the ocean N of Parramore Is. A cold front
then crosses the coast later Saturday afternoon. There is stronger
CAA behind this boundary with SCA conditions likely, as the wind is
expected to become NW 15-25kt, especially for the Bay and ocean,
with seas potentially building back to 4-5ft (mainly N). The pattern
remains active with another cold front crossing the coast later
Sunday night into Monday morning, after high pressure passes over
the region Sunday. High pressure is expected to return by Tuesday
and Wednesday of next week.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Increasing SSE winds will likely result in tide levels rising
to 1-1.5 ft above normal (to possible ACTION stage) along the
central Chesapeake Bay late tonight/early Friday morning
(especially for locations on the lower MD eastern shore at
