High pressure builds across the area tonight through Friday. Low
pressure crosses the region over the weekend. High pressure returns
early next week.

.NEAR TERM /TONIGHT/...
As of 310 PM EDT Wednesday...

Cold front now east of I95. Expect convection to continue to move
east then push off the coast over the next few hrs. Will adjust
grids per current radar trends then skc overnite. Turning much
colder as strong CAA sets in. Lows in the low-mid 30s north and
west, upr 30s-lwr 40s se.

Little if any frost expected tonite given a 8-10 degree temp/dew
point spread along with continue mixing. Data does show that winds
across the wrn Piedmont slacken off a bit late. This allows temps to
drop to arnd freezing. Thus, will issue a freeze warning for areas
west of the I95 corridor for a svrl hr period arnd sunrise Thurs.

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
As of 310 PM EDT Wednesday...

Dry, breezy/cool Thurs as strong high pres builds in from the west.
Highs upr 50s-lwr 60s along with a gusty west winds at 20-30 mph. RH
values drop into the 20s in the aftrn.

The high builds over the area Thurs nite thru Fri nite. Thurs nite
may be as cold or a bit colder than tonite given lighter wind and
dew points a tad higher. Thus, addntl frost/freeze headlines are
possbile with lows in the low-mid 30s except 35-40 along the coast.
Mstly sunny and warmer Fri. Highs in the mid 60s. Mstly clr to start
Fri nite then incrg clouds after midnite ahead of the next systm
apprchg from the sw. Lows in the 40s.

Low pressure approaches from the SW Sat, then tracks NE across the
region Sat night. Still some timing and moisture differences in the
models, but the jist is for a decent slug of moisture to overspread
the area Sat aftrn and cont Sat nite as the low tracks across the
area. Thus, PoPs quickly ramp up to likely-categorical Sat aftrn and
eve, then ramp down to chc-likely late Sat nite. Thunder may
eventually be needed across the SE, but is does appear there will be
some in-situ damming across the NW. QPF arnd 1/2 inch. Cloudy with
highs Sat in the 60s except near 70 se. Lows Sat nite in the 50s.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 310 PM EDT Wednesday...

Low pressure deepens as it tracks ne along the New England coast
Sun. Models show much drier air filtering across the local area
behind this systm Sun aftrn. Will carry a few lingering shwrs along
the coast Sun morning then decreasing clouds. Highs upr 60s-lwr 70s.

High pressure builds into the area from the north Sun nite/Mon then
shifts off the Mid Atlantic coast Tue/Wed. This results in a warming
trend with temps going above normal. Dry through Wed but models do
show some increasing moisture apprchg the mts by late Wed.

Cool Sun/Mon nites with lows in the 40s to near 50 se. Highs Mon 65-
70. Highs Tue mid-upr 70s west of the bay, upr 60s-lwr 70s near the
water. Lows Tue nite in the 50s. Highs Wed upr 70s-lwr 80s away from
the water, 70-75 at the beaches

.AVIATION /19Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 140 PM EDT Wednesday...

A cold front is currently crossing the area this aftrn with numerous
shwrs/tstms dvlpng along and ahead of it. Given the speeds these
cells are moving at, decided to go with a VCSH and tempo any tsra's
across the east. Kept thunder out of RIC given the front is right
on top of them. Otw, gusty WSW winds at 20-30 kts shift to the WNW
behind the fropa. All this ends btwn before sunset as the front
pushes off the coast. VFR and SKC tonight and Thurs as high pressure
builds into the area from the west. Gusty NW winds continue Thurs.

OUTLOOK...
VFR conditions thru Fri nite as high pressure dominates. Low pressure
will bring a showers and degraded flight conditions Sat into Sat
night. High pressure returns Sunday.

.MARINE...
As of 200 PM EDT Wednesday...

Cold front is moving through the area this afternoon and will
quickly clear the area early this evening. Winds behind the front
become NW 20-30 kts with gusts around 35 kts. Best chance for longer
period Gale gusts continues to be over the northern bay and northern
coastal waters where a Gale warning runs through 08Z. SCA's for the
remaining waters through the overnight into Thursday. Waves in the
bay build to 3-5 ft, and seas build to 4-6 ft.

High pressure builds in from the west for Thursday. Westerly winds
will subside to 15-20 kts with gusts of 25-30 kts. Waves in the bay
2-3 ft and seas 3-5 by late in the day. High pressure settles over
the region on Friday with sub-SCA conditions expected. W/SW winds 5-
15 kts. Waves in the bay subside to 1-2 ft and seas subside to 2-3
ft.

Next system impacts the area late Saturday into Sunday which will
result in another period of SCA winds/seas.

.FIRE WEATHER...
As of 415 AM EDT Wednesday...

A gusty westerly wind is expected later this morning into the
afternoon as a cold front crosses the area. Most model guidance
keeps the frontal passage dry for areas west of I-95, with only
widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms for far
eastern VA, lower MD and NE NC. Gusts of 25-30 mph can be
expected today with RH values lowering to 25-30% across the
Piedmont late this afternoon. The wind will be gusty again
Thursday afternoon with min RH values lowering further, ranging
from 20-25% inland to 25-30% toward the coast. The limiting
factor for potential Red Flag conditions will continue to be
fuel moisture, given recent rainfall and low KBDI values.
However, if a widespread wetting rain is not realized (and is
not expected) today, then an Increased Fire Danger statement
will be necessary Thursday.

along a line extending from near Hartfield to Busch Gardens. Movement
was east at 40 mph.

Wind gusts in excess of 40 mph and dime size hail are possible with
these storms.

Mathews, Gloucester Courthouse, Deltaville, Queens Lake, Gloucester
Point, Gwynn, Hayes, Bavon, Hartfield, Blakes, Mobjack, Ruff, Beulah,
