SHORT TERM...A surface low is moving towards the panhandle and
will stall in the N Gulf over the next couple of days before
dissipating. An opposing high pressure system southwards will
create a strong pressure gradient between the two systems. The
flow between them will push a plume of moisture into the
panhandle on Friday.

An increase in precipitation rates will occur this evening across
the panhandle as the shower pattern continues. Winds will
increase to 30 kt in the Gulf as the low pressure moves towards
the panhandle tomorrow and areas of 20 kt winds are possible in
some of the inner channels. Clarence Straight winds will increase
to 20 kt on Friday.

Minor changes were made to the overall forecast on Friday. A
southern shift in the organized band of precipitation to match the
track of the weak plume of moisture moving onshore. Temperatures
remain near normal, but the min and max temperaures were adjusted
Friday. The temperature shift between day and night will be
substantially reduced as the organized band of precipitation
brings additional cloudcover to the area.

LONG TERM.../ Friday to Wednesday as of 10 pm Tuesday / Aloft the
the zonal flow transitions into a ridge as it is being moved
eastward. A deep low over the southern Bering Sea is assisting the
building ridge, the associated trough with it moving northeast
past Kodiak Island Friday. This upper level low will move from the
Bering Sea to the Northwest Gulf Sunday. On Sunday the main flow
pattern about the closed low is opening to a broad trough over the
gulf, moves about the gulf and the eastern side is aimed at the
British Columbia coastline. The remains of the trough pushes
inland Southern British Columbia and Pacific Northwest. Further
west the flow pattern has a zonal look with a shortwave or two in
the flow, however, the flow is south of the gulf 45N-50N. What
this means being on the far southern track and the lack of any
more organized one further north is a light westerly flow for the
first part of the week, and no significant features for the start
of the week.

The Saturday frontal band rainfall amounts look to be trying to
usher in between 1/3 and 2/3 inches. This is not excessive
rainfall but will be one of the wetter periods over the next week.

Ensemble means and anomaly tables do not show anything too far
out of normal for the time being. Therefore, not expecting large
shifts away from the present temperature profile over SEAK.
An increase of the PoPs Friday resulted in needed to adjust some
Friday and Saturday high temperatures down a few degrees.

Forecast confidence in the long range is average.
