* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Travel will be very 
  difficult to impossible.

* WHERE...Eastern Beaufort Sea Coast.

* WHEN...9 AM Thursday to 6 AM Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will cause
  whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the
  snow is likely. Wind Chill to 40 below.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel extremely difficult. The latest road

.SYNOPSIS...Stratus and light snow will continue over the Eastern
Interior through Thursday morning, but light snowfall amounts
expected. Stratus is keeping the Interior warmer than expected
but clouds will be decreasing on Thursday. Winds will pick up
over the Interior summits later today with blowing and drifting
snow, and cold wind chill, impacting travel in those areas.
Cold weather will continue into the weekend and early next week
for the much of the state.

.DISCUSSION...Models...16/12Z solutions are in fairly good
agreement. We are going with a blend of the GFS and ECWMF for
POPs over the Eastern Interior.

Aloft...Upper level low over the Brooks range will drop down to
the Gulf of Alaska on Wednesday. Northerly winds will develop
over the State on Thursday and continue into Friday. 850 temps
will warm slightly to the teens below over the weekend but begin
to drop again to the 20s below by Monday.

Interior...Stratus and light snow will continue over the Eastern
Interior through Thursday morning, but light snowfall amounts
expected. Stratus is keeping the Interior warmer than expected but
clouds will be decreasing on Thursday. Winds will pick up over
the Interior summits later today with blowing and drifting snow,
and cold wind chill, impacting travel in those areas.

Wind chill advisories have been issued for the Alaska Range for
Wednesday as strong northerly winds develop in the passes. As
clouds decrease on Thursday, expect cold Friday and Saturday Lows
around 10 to 25 below zero.

North slope...The Arctic will see some clearing to the west of
Utqiagvik, but remain cloudy to the east as a low in the area
produces some light snow. Winds increasing east of Deadhorse
Wednesday night and Thursday will produce blowing and drifting
snow that may impact travel in the area.

West coast...Generally clear in the coastal areas, and clearing
in the inland areas as stratus erodes. Winds north 10 to 20 mph
along the coast with the strongest winds on the Capes and St
Lawrence Island. Inland winds light and variable. Highs will range
from the 20s above on St Lawrence Island, to the teens above in
the Yukon Delta and on the Capes, to the teens below inland. Lows
will be around 20s above on St Lawrence Island, to the single
digits above and below along the coast to the 20s below inland.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.

...Blowing and Drifting Snow along the Highways...

Winds will increase today with blowing and drifting snow
developing along the Elliott and Dalton Highways.

Winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph today, mainly on the summits.
Blowing and drifting snow may impact travel as visibility is
reduced at times.

Winds will diminish Thursday evening with conditions improving.
