.SYNOPSIS...
Wet conditions continuing along the West Coast, Western Interior,
and western Brooks Range through tomorrow. Flood Advisories are in
effect for the Central Brooks Range, Upper Kobuk, Noatak, and
Koyukuk Valleys, and the Nome and Snake rivers as well as a Flood
Watch for the Lower Kobuk and Noatak Valleys. Areas east of the
cloudy and rainy conditions, which includes the Eastern Interior
and portions of the Central Interior will continue to see a
warming and drying trend going into next week. Current trends are
indicating a sustained duration of warmer temperatures across the
Eastern Interior, with warming spreading across the Western
Interior early next week as the rainy and cloudy conditions
dissipate.

.DISCUSSION...
In the upper levels, a closed low situated near St. Lawrence
Island will quickly rotate to the north with the main axis in the
Chukchi Sea by tonight. This will spell the end of the dominance
that this feature has had out west for the last week or so as
ridging will build across the Western Interior and portions of
the West Coast going into next week. Higher heights will continue
to push in from Canada across the Interior through Monday.

As a result, the trend weather wise is continued warming in the
Eastern Interior, while wet and cloudy conditions will dissipate
across the West Coast, Western Interior, and portions of the
Central Interior and Brooks Range after Sunday.

Central and Eastern Interior...
Warming and drying conditions continuing from generally Fairbanks
east through the weekend. Portions of the Central Interior will
remain wet as a weather front advances east over this region
through tomorrow with accumulations up to an inch. Gusty winds
up to 40 mph through Alaska Range passes expected to develop this
afternoon and last through tomorrow. Current model solutions
suggest continued warming into next week, with 80s high
temperatures going into the middle of the week.

North Slope and Brooks Range...
Areas north of the Brooks Range will see dry conditions today, but
areas of the central and western Arctic Coast will see some rainy
conditions today as a weather front pushes offshore tonight. Winds
will become more southerly in the afternoon as the surface low
tracks into the Chukchi Sea. The pressure gradient will tighten
across the Brooks Range, with Atigun and Anaktuvuk Passes seeing
strong winds developing today, with gusts 35 to 45 mph.
Temperatures remaining well above average going into next week.

West Coast and Western Interior...
Wet conditions continue with additional accumulations of
0.50-1.50 inches along the West Coast and 2.00-4.00 inches in the
Western Interior, with largest amounts in the foothills of the
Brooks Range through tomorrow. Many rivers and streams will see
rapid rises, with the Central Brooks Range, Upper Kobuk, Noatak,
and Koyukuk Valleys, and the Snake and Nome rivers under a Flood
Advisory. A Flood Watch is also in effect for the Lower Kobuk and
Noatak Valleys as the rivers and streams drain into the lower
elevation areas of the Kobuk River Basin later this weekend.
Temperatures will remain below normal going into next week before
a rapid warming trend as the cloudy and wet weather dissipates.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Wet conditions out west and dry conditions for the Eastern
Interior continuing into next week. From Fairbanks east,
temperatures will continue to warm, with low 80s expected along
the AlCan border as early as today. This will result in minimum
RH's dipping into the low to mid 20s in areas of the Upper Tanana
Valley through going into next week. Gap flow through Alaska
Range Passes with gusts to 40 mph will develop today and last into
tomorrow. In addition, due to the weather front situated over the
Western Interior today, increasing winds across the Central and
Eastern Interior, particularly in higher terrain, are expected to
develop with gusts to 30 mph.

.HYDROLOGY...
Heavy rain continuing for portions of the West Coast and the
Western Interior today, with up to 4.00 inches along the foothills
of the Brooks Range. Thus, Flood Advisories remains in effect for
the Central Brooks Range, Upper Kobuk, Noatak, and Koyukuk
Valleys as well as the Nome and Snake rivers. A Flood Watch for
the Lower Kobuk and Noatak Valleys is also in effect as streams
and rivers from the upper portions of the Kobuk River Basin drain
into lower elevations. Outdoor recreators should keep an eye on
small streams and creeks draining into these rivers as rapid rises
and bankfull conditions may occur. For the latest river
