The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Central Yukon Flats and Surrounding Uplands in Alaska...

* Until 615 PM AKDT.

* At 538 PM AKDT, a severe thunderstorm was located along the Yukon 
  River 20 miles west of Beaver, or 30 miles northeast of Stevens 
  Village. The storm was moving southeast at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...One inch size hail and frequent lightning. 

  SOURCE...Radar and lightning detection netword indicated.

  IMPACT...Damage to vehicles and boats is expected. People in the 
           area should get off the river and move inside a structure 
           or vehicle if possible. 

* This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
  central Yukon Flats and Surrounding Uplands.

SURROUNDING UPLANDS WILL EXPIRE AT 615 PM AKDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has moved south of the Yukon 
River and weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an 
immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be 
allowed to expire.  However lightning, small hail, gusty winds and 
brief heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.
