.SYNOPSIS FOR ARCTIC COAST...
A 1007 mb low 100 nm W of Banks Island will weaken as it moves 
westward to be a 1010 mb low 250 nm north of Demarcation Point 
tonight. A 984 mb low will move north of the Bering Strait this 
afternoon and weaken to 1015 mb near Kivalina by Wednesday 
afternoon.

Northern Alaska Forecast Discussion

.SYNOPSIS...Progressive storm patern will continue for next few
days. Current storm is winding down across the Interior today.
The next couple of systems will move into the west coast on
and Tuesday and push into the Interior on Wednesday. Winter
storm watches for snow and blowing snow have been issued for
northwest Alaska.

.DISCUSSION...
Upper Levels and Analysis...
A trough will reach the West Coast this afternoon, changing the
flow from southwesterly to westerly across Northern Alaska. Weak
ridging will slide quickly across the Bering into the West Coast
Monday, ahead of another shortwave that will move into the Western
Interior by Monday night. Then, another sharp trough will dig
south across the Bering Tuesday and move east into the Central
Interior late Tuesday into Wednesday.

North Slope and Brooks Range...
Blizzard warning still in effect for eastern north slope as a
tight pressure gradient is set up over the eastern north slope
producing strong winds. This will cause strong westerly winds to
develop, creating Blizzard Conditions that will impact Kaktovik
for most of Monday.

West Coast and Western Interior...
A couple of fronts will impact the west coast. First will push
through on Monday with snow and blowing snow and areas of mixed
precip. The second stronger front will push through on Tuesday.
Winter storm watches for snow and blowing snow have been issued
for northwest Alaska. Snow and blowing snow along the coast with
near blizzard conditions and heavy snow for the inland areas.
Snow accumulations around 6 to 12 inches with heavier amounts
in the upper Kobuk and Noatak valleys.

Central and Eastern Interior...
Winter storm is winding down this morning with some lingering
strong winds across the Interior. Winter weather advisories have
been cancelled. A special weather statement has been issued for
the next round of snow for Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures
are expected to rise into the mid 30s as far east as Fairbanks
today and linger into Monday, with temperatures falling slightly
into the 20s for Tuesday. Another weather front will move into the
Interior Tuesday morning, with snow amounts of around 4 inches
are expected for the Fairbanks area, with higher amounts up to 6
inches possible further south. Snow will taper off briefly Tuesday
afternoon, then a stronger front will bring more snow to the
Interior Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Additional accumulations
around 6 inches with higher amounts northeast of Fairbanks. Snow
will taper off to scattered snow showers Wednesday afternoon.

Coastal Hazard Potential for Days 3 and 4...
No concerns at this time.
