A 1004 mb low 400 nm northeast of Barter Island will move
northeast. A 1012 mb low near Wrangel Island will move will move 
to near Cape Lisburne as a 1016 mb low by 3am Sun, and then move
inland. A weather front stretching north from this low will move
to Point Barrow to Cape Lisburne by 3am Sun, and then continue
east to Demarcation Point by midnight Sun night.

.SYNOPSIS...
An arctic trough parked over mainland Alaska with dry northeast
winds will drift west tonight and Thursday and then push back
over the Central Interior Friday and into the weekend. A weak low
moving north off of the Eastern Arctic Coast this afternoon is
producing low visibilities in snow and blowing snow that will
continue into Thursday. Temperatures will remain near normal or
below normal into the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...
Upper Levels and Analysis...
A 515 dam 500 hpa arctic trough is centered over the Western
Interior this afternoon. 850 hpa temps are generally in the
12 below to 18 below range, which is supporting the current cold
temperatures after a rather warm past several weeks. A surface
high remains over the Canadian Archipelago, with a broad area of
low pressure over the N Pacific, which is keeping a northerly
gradient through the Bering Strait.

Model Discussion...
The 10/12z model suite initialized well against the 12 surface
analysis and the 12z upper air observations as well as verifying
well against the 18z surface analysis. The models are in good
agreement with the synoptic scale pattern through the end of the
week with no notable issues.

Central and Eastern Interior...
Increasing clouds this afternoon and tonight as as a low over the
Gulf of Alaska streams some moisture north tonight and continuing
into the weekends. Temps will remain on the seasonal side, with
low temps highly dependent as usual on how much cloud cover there
is. Light snow threats will impact mainly the Fortymile Uplands
and AK Range, but a flurry can not be ruled out farther north
tonight and into the weekend.

West Coast and Western Interior...
Cold north winds through the Bering Strait and northern Bering
Sea continue, with cold interior valleys inland. The coldest temps
will continue tonight and Thursday are over the inland valleys
around Kotzebue Sound, with temps in the teens to near 20 below in
in some areas. Snow showers will continue out over the open
waters of the Strait, but will impact the coastal areas more as
the low level winds shift from offshore northeast to more due
northerly.

North Slope and Brooks Range...
A low moving north over the eastern Arctic, continues to produce
low visibilities in snow and blowing snow from Prudhoe Bay east.
Visibilities will improve as the snow and winds diminish on
Thursday. Otherwise the weather looks rather quiet into the
weekend.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
