This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of north and central
New Mexico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A weak system is expected to bring rain and mountain snow showers to
northwestern and west central New Mexico today, with a few inches of
new snow accumulation possible. Precipitation will taper off by
evening.

Arctic air will once again encroach into the eastern plains, bringing
another round of freezing fog and freezing drizzle tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for a strong wintry system will
arrive Saturday night, beginning with snowfall over the northwestern
portion of the state. Arctic air will finally push through the gaps
in the central mountain chain bringing strong gap winds with gusts 40
to 50 mph to the middle Rio Grande Valley. As the cold air pushes
through, widespread snowfall is likely, along with bitter cold wind
chills and record- breaking low temperatures Monday morning. Remember
to protect your pipes, pets, and plants during this time. Hazardous
travel conditions will be likely Saturday night through Monday
morning.

Another storm system is forecast to bring additional snowfall
accumulations to much of New Mexico Tuesday through Wednesday.
