.Dry air in place across the area will allow for several hours of
relative humidity values below 35 percent this afternoon. In
addition, dry soil conditions and winds greater than 15 mph will
cause dangerous fire weather conditions.

The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Area - Ruskin FL has
issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon today to
6 PM EST this evening. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Polk.

* WIND...Northeast winds around 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

* HUMIDITY...29 to 34 percent.

* ERC...30 to 40.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

.SHORT TERM (Today-Sunday)...
Cooler and drier air is in place across the area this morning,
with an interesting pocket of very low dew points around TPA/MCF
and even extending down across the office. Highs today only
reaching into the mid 60s to around 70, with several hours of
humidities below 35 percent this afternoon. Winds will be turning
from the north to the NE this afternoon as high pressure settles
east into the SE US. The high center continue to shift SE tonight
and Sunday turning winds more easterly and allowing for some
moderation of temps and moisture. Lows tonight are expected around
40 north and in the mid 40s to lower 50s central and south. Highs
Sunday in the lower to mid 70s.

.LONG TERM (Sunday night - Friday)...
Mid level ridging will build over the Gulf and Florida through the
upcoming week in response to a deep cutoff upper-level low
approaching and moving onshore the southern California coast by
mid week. At the surface strong high pressure (1036MB) initially
moving offshore the mid Atlantic coast Sunday night will move
eastward into the Atlantic and extend back to the west across the
northern Florida peninsula through the period with a return east-
southeast wind flow developing across the forecast area.
Dry/stable conditions under the ridge will keep rain chances out
of the forecast as the ridging keeps storm systems and fronts at
bay well to the north of the area, with a slow increase in low
level moisture and warming temperatures expected. Near normal
temperatures on Monday will climb to above normal Tuesday through
Friday with overnight lows warming into the 50s and 60s, with
daytime highs climbing into the upper 70s to around 80 on Monday,
then reaching the lower to mid 80s Tuesday through Friday.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions through the period with clear skies. Winds will be
from the N/NE increasing in the afternoon.

.MARINE...
SCA continues for the coastal waters through this afternoon, then
should be subsiding. High pressure will remain in place across the
waters through the week, with the high center shifting east of the
area today.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Several hours of critical RH values across the area this
afternoon, but winds should remain below 15 mph except right along
the coast. Most ERC values are in the 30s, so with that, will be
raising a red flag warning for the coastal counties from Pinellas
south through Lee.
