.NEAR TERM [Through Saturday]...

An upper level trough axis west of the region will ease into the
forecast area on Saturday. The associated surface front may make as
far east as our western counties by the end of the period.
Southwesterly low to mid level flow will maximize convergence
northern Florida where the east coast and gulf sea breezes meet.
Remnant outflow will also serve as a trigger for convection tomorrow
in the area of deepest moisture. Therefore PoPs will follow the
recent pattern of highest in the east and tapering off to the west.
Generally, a blend of the NBM and ECAM was used. Temperatures will
be near normal tonight. Highs Saturday will be above normal with mid
to upper 90s in most areas inland from the coast. Heat indices will
peak from 102-106 north of the Florida line and 103 to 109 degrees
in Florida. Local heat advisory criteria is 108 degrees, so we'll be
close in a few spots.

.SHORT TERM [Saturday Night Through Sunday]...

Upper ridging continues to slide over the state from the east
through the short term with ample moisture remaining in place.
Some showers and thunderstorms will be possible Sunday afternoon,
primarily over the eastern portion of the area where deeper
moisture will reside. The ridging will lead to very warm temperatures
on Sunday, with high temperatures possibly climbing into the mid
to upper 90s. The highest temperatures are expected over the
central and western portions of the area where less rainfall and
cloud cover are expected. Heat indices in the low 100s are
expected Sunday afternoon and could approach 108 in a few spots.

.LONG TERM [Sunday Night Through Friday]...

The ridging begins to weaken and retreat eastward heading into the
work week as several shortwaves pass to the north. Deep moisture
remains over the area, with PWs forecast to stay near 2.0 inches.
This will lead to an increase in expected shower and thunderstorm
activity, with scattered to widespread convection expected each
afternoon. High temperatures will retreat a few degrees back into
the low to mid 90s for the long term.

.AVIATION...
[Through 18Z Saturday]

VFR conditions throughout the period outside of TSRA/SHRA
influence. Winds becoming westerly, generally staying under 10
kts.

.MARINE...

Light winds and low seas will make for favorable boating
conditions at least through early next week outside of
thunderstorms.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...

Hazardous fire weather conditions are not expected over the next
several days.

.HYDROLOGY...
Typical summertime convection is expected to bring periods of
showers and thunderstorms across our area, but QPF yields 7-day
totals of generally 1 to 2 inches or less. Isolated higher
amounts are always possible with stronger or slow-moving storms.
There are currently no flood concerns, and all local rivers and
creeks are in good shape.

thunderstorms along a line extending from 12 miles west of
Chattahoochee to 9 miles west of Blountstown. Movement was northeast
at 10 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Blountstown, Chattahoochee, Sneads, Grand Ridge, Altha, Clarksville,
Ocheesee, Selman, Union City, Chipola, Henderson Mill, Kennys Mill,
Star, Alliance, Blountstown Airport, Red Oak, Hardin Heights, Chason,
Sink Creek and Willis.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

At 314 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8
miles northwest of De Funiak Springs, moving northeast at 10 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm.

De Funiak Springs, Eglin Air Force Base, Liberty, Oakwood Hills,
Cluster Springs, Fox Hill, Sand Hill, Alpine Heights, De Funiak
