.SYNOPSIS...A dry cold front will move south across Utah late
Thursday through Friday. High pressure aloft will strengthen over
the West Coast and western Great Basin beginning early next week,
resulting in above normal temperatures and dry conditions
throughout the week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...High pressure aloft will build northeast across the
Great Basin today in the wake of yesterday's trough passage. This
high pressure will be short-lived as the mid-latitude westerly
across the central and eastern Pacific punch inland across the
Pacific Northwest/northern Rockies late tonight through Thursday.
The leading embedded shortwave in the westerlies will serve to
lower heights and usher in a cold front over northern Utah by
late tonight/early Thursday. The best dynamic and thermal support
for lift will likely remain well north of Utah, with the surface
front expected to be dry as it presses south through northern
Utah. Temperatures behind the front will be noticeably cooler,
though still running above late September norms.
The zonal pattern across the region will hold through Saturday,
resulting in temperatures running near to a little above normal
through the first half of the weekend. Building heights along the
West Coast through the western Great Basin beginning Sunday will
eventually evolve into a broad/strong upper ridge across the
entire western CONUS by midweek.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions will prevail at KSLC through the
current TAF period. Southeast winds will shift to the northwest
between 18Z and 19Z.
