.SYNOPSIS...High pressure will remain in place across the Great
Basin through the first part of the weekend. A dry cold front will
cross the state Sunday, followed by a much stronger cold front
early next week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...Another day of very hot temperatures as a stout
upper level ridge remains in place across the region. Expect some
areas to approach or exceed record highs for the date today. This
trend will continue through the weekend in most locations.
Given today's highs in the lower Washington County/Zion National
Park area will reach nearly 108F, revised the start time for the
excessive heat warning to today for these locations. The excessive
heat warning continues through Sunday evening but may need to be
extended all the way through Monday evening. Will wait for the
remainder of the 12Z guidance before extending through Monday.
Regardless, anyone planning outdoor activities anywhere in the
state this Labor Day Weekend should be prepared for very hot
temperatures and practice typical heat safety precautions.
Fire weather watches remain in effect for portions of northeastern
and east central Utah this weekend. These will likely be upgraded
with the afternoon package...and potentially extended through
Monday.
Current forecast is on track and no additional updates are
anticipated.
